Primordials - Who are they?

Can anyone tell me what the Primordials were going to be (MT Knightfall)? Were there any plans to use them in the future? Do they appear elsewhere?

Gah.

Does the name "Baddies from the Core" ring any bells?

If you have (or can get hold of) MegaTraveller Journal #4, the sad tale is contained therein...

The Primordals appear in an immature form in DGP Referee Screen adventure. DGP was going to use them instead of the Empress Wave to unite the Imperium & Zhodani Consulate in one big fight entitled Baddies from the Core.

From I understand, Marc never sanctioned this use of the timeline and by the time that DGP was going to use them...GDW had adopted TNE (at which point DGP left Traveller all together because of a difference of opinion regarding Traveller's future). Whether the good Mr. Sanger has a working manuscript or outline the events described above remains unknown.

Marc has hinted several times at a sourcebook dealing with the time of the Ancients. I have even worked on a manuscript for this project. But, I have shelved that project until more time permits me to return. Plus, I would want to do it as a sourcebook without rules (read: Tables and Charts) like MJD suggestion for the future of TNE. Obviously, the Primordials would figure in that sourcebook.

Kafka, you and I and seem to have similar ideas about the Traveller thang. Please tell me more about the primordials as you see them - I want another mystery species in my TU. If you do not want to give anything away publically my e-mail is ecv20@netscape.net.

Thanx bro.

AS I work on my Traveller, which is rife with Empress Wave, I think 'What if the WAVE is not the enemy, but merely a scientific construct to trash the Zhodani and ravage the Spinward (with crazed Zhodani), the first enemies out from the core. What would be the next enemy? Vagr or Imperium? Well, you could trash a good Imperium, based soely on the concept of Nobility, with a Noble War. A few whispers into the right ears....As to the Vagr, what fundementally rules there existence - a pillar which to crack before any active assault? Can Project Longbow/Project Jumpstart prepare for an attack that undermines the very foundations of their essence before assault? I don't think my players read here (the fools!), so I can chat about this....

'Grandchildren'=Primordials?

... do you think 'Grandfather' got them all? Maybe someone should find HIM, again....

'nuff said, for now...

Actually, once canon source-sorry I forget which one exactly, stated that Grandfather kept very good count of his children and grandchildren as he took them out. Except for a small number that he keeps imprisoned in that little pocket-universe of his he did indeed finish the job he set out to do.
But that is not to say that maybe one of them didn't breed a few more and was able to hide them away where Grandfather wasn't able to get them-their own little pocket???? As our favorite Vulcan would say-there are always possibilities........

Although the Ancients could take on many shapes and sizes. I don't think you theory is correct. The Grandchildren were essentially clones of grandfather, Knightfall, I think makes it explicit that the Primordials were created because ever since Secret of the Ancients, the mystery surrounding the Ancients has disappeared.

IMTU, the Ancients is a generic name for all the old civilizations of -300,000. Of which I include quite a few. For I don't believe in the Jump Space critera marking the difference between Major and Minor Races. Rather, it those who achieve interstellar dominance or not.

Of course, you have to wonder how it would be possible for him to keep count of beings with access to TL30 cloning and braintaping.

Except for a small number that he keeps imprisoned in that little pocket-universe of his he did indeed finish the job he set out to do.

I don't recall seeing anything about any prisoners.

Exactly.
