Psionic Devices: Mentation Sensor

Mentation Sensor. This is a psionic control device which only yields to a particular empathic signature, usually reacting to mentation. The signature need not be psionic: the device could read emotions, or even act as a kind of life detector. Its most common application is to enable equipment use by authorized personnel.

Examples:

Psionic Vault. 1 ton, MCr 1. TL 25. [TP]
This is a heavy door, breachable only by nuclear weapons, with an integral Mentation Sensor attuned to the same empathic pattern as that of human fear. It operates in short range (R=4).

Psionic Commo. Size 3, Cr 100. TL 25. [TP]
This is a Mentation Sensor-based communications system, with a planetary range (R=7).

Psionic Link (Weapon). Size 1, Cr 250. TL 25. [TP]
This is a Mentation Sensor interface to a weapon – typically a Disintegrator pistol. The user simply beams a Mentation message wishing a target to be gone, and it is disintegrated. It operates in contact range; if the weapon is designed with the Remote option, range increases to R=5, or 1 km.

Psionic Link (Computer). Size 1, Cr 1,000. TL 25. [TP]
This is a Mentation Sensor interface to a computer or electronic brain with a short range (R=4).
