Question about Gashidda size discrepancy (Dingir subsector Solomani Rim)

Iracundus

SOC-10
Was looking more closely at this world on travellermap.com and noticed the size code of 5, but the previous GURPS Traveller sources (Rim of Fire and Interstellar Wars)list it with diameter 3,400 miles or 5,400 km, which should make it size 3. Atmosphere in both is 6.

The wiki quotes the GURPS Traveller diameter even while listing the UWP Size as 5.

Which should it be? Am I correct in understanding that the travellermap takes precedence and that the size remains 5 in order to account for the atmosphere?
Or do we allow for small planets with thick atmospheres to account for some terraforming attempts (or other handwaving reasons) even if the thick atmospheres are temporary on a geological scale?

I am trying to do a planetary map and would like to know what size map to use.

Yes, you are correct. All sectors on TravellerMap noted as "T5SS" at the bottom of the screen are based on the T5 Second Survey data which is the current standard. In many cases UWP data was tweaked for the sake of realism and/or greater believability.

The T5SS systematically applied a largely undocumented correction to planetary size -- "if Atm 1/A/B/C, Size 3+; if Atm 2/3, Size 4+, and if Atm 4-9, Size 5+".

The reason is that some atmospheres just cannot be found on small planets due to the minimum molecular weight retained. (For what it's worth, I am on board with this change.) As a consequence, many worlds across Charted Space increased in size.

The Ancients' shrink rays must have finally worn off.
