Question for the rules and Traveller historical Gurus about Hull costs in MT

General question:
In the MegaTraveller ship design process, it appears there is a fairly random Cost assigned for a given Hull UCP. I've tried to come up with a formula the designers might have used, but so far no luck. Would anyone happen to know if an actual formula was used to determine the Hull costs, and if so, what is it?

It's very roughly scaled to Volume^2/3.

Essentially, it's a hull shell volume.

Thanks Aramis. That's roughly what I figured, but after testing numbers with a couple of different formula set-ups, everything was close, but just far enough off that I thought the designers just were messing with my head

Figure a shell of 0.06V^2/3... a 1cm thick cubic shell.
