Robot power source

Book 9 Robot on pg 3 has the line about frames "The frame comes with a built in power plant that energises all of the robot’s parts."

That is all that is mentioned about powering the robot. The biological frame cyborg mentions that;
"Living body: The biological frame draws energy from nutrition,
which makes it extremely energy efficient. On the other hand,
being biological, it is susceptible to all the hazards that affect
living bodies – poison, disease, injury, hunger and so forth."

For a non cyborg power plant, is there a fuel requirement? How long does the power last? Can a robot run out of power?
The energy field on pg 18 says that overusing the field results in "Failure means that the power supply isutterly drained, leaving the robot defenceless until recharged."

How does a robot recharge? How long does it take? I cannot find anything about this in the book, unless I am missing something obvious.

And finally, can a basic no frills robot slowly upgrade itself as it gains more money over time until it has a new computer, more memory and all the software and such. Is there a limit as to how upgraded it can become?

It's a weak book for actual design. I hate to say it but you need a different book, 13Mann's Robots.

That is very sounds as a piece of design engineering for Traveller robots.

I know it's a pain but I think it's the simplest and best option, if not the cheapest.
