General Robotic Gymnastics

Hmm, a toy specifically programmed for this series of stunts.... and nothing more. Like a toy, one would get tired of the repetitive performance. I must admit it's real purpose is to show advance coordination and balance which would be a must for self mobile machines. Not sure how often acrobatic robots would appear IMTU. Robo-ninjas?

Sports.

They'll replace all the athletes in violent and/or contact sports, since it doesn't matter if robots get a concussion or not.

The assumption reflected in e.g. original Traveller warbots is that they would use grav plates to get around, making it easier to move over rough ground. There are problems with that, such as vulnerability to fire and the effects of nearby blasts. Getting around on 2 or 4 legs seems better. Or imagine a warbot that gets around on four legal can afford to lose a leg, and can use a built in grav capability to rise from a "turret down" position, engage, and then drop back into cover. With microdrones the size of dragonflies to find its targets. And the ability to scale walls. It moves and fights like a clairvoyant dog wearing a grav belt.

That infantry career in the Imperial Marines is looking less attractive.... :)

This is essentially a toy but it's also proof of concept for a more advanced machine.
