So, my Traveller Hero group has finally followed up on hint I left them years ago, and have initiated the Secrets of the Ancients adventure.

This is a Classic Traveller campaign, in which I've used a large number of CT scenarios. I'd mentioned early on in the campaign (one of the Rumors from the Annic Nova adventure), that there was a report of K-band radio interference near Komesh, the gas giant in the Boughene system.
Over time, they've come to realize that sometimes, K-band interference seems to indicate the presence of Ancient structures in a system. Of course, that realization coincided with the outbreak of the Fifth Frontier War, which complicates matters.
A recurring foe in the campaign has been a villain named Adam Black. He's shown up under a number of assumed names and identities, generally in cloned bodies. They have come to realize that he is far from a simple crimelord, and that his machinations and conspiracies seem to have some unknown goal. They originally suspected him of being a Zhodani plant, but after a number of encounters have dismissed that possibility.
The AB clones seem to all have a minor psionic ability to communicate mentally with each other when in orbit. AB apparently has minions who also make extensive use of clones; one of them is a usually-cybernetically-enhanced woman with excellent combat abilities, while another is a guy who seems to have cyberpathic abilities (the ability to read and control the "thoughts" of computers).
Most recently, the PCs assaulted what they discovered to be a cloning facility for AB. While there, they got a lot more info on the goals and predilections of Adam Black. This included the idea that he is into Ancient technology; they discovered a ring of gray "stone" which was active briefly before turning off. Unfortunately, the place went before they could do more than see the ring, and now it's buried -- not unattainable, but it would require a lot of effort and time.
Instead, they went to Boughene, and I decided to initiate the Secrets of the Ancients adventure in earnest.

In the Mongoose SotA campaign, the descent into Komesh's gas giant atmosphere is actually part 4 of the campaign (called "Descent"). In accordance with the needs of the module, Adam Black is actually an agent of one of Grandfather's children. In fact, some of the data the PCs have stolen (or blown up) in tangling with him were leads the AB clones were collecting to try to locate Grandfather's pocket universe.
I've decided that I'm not really fond of the way SotA combines adventures into one campaign. My plan is to run Descent and part 5, "Otherworld. At the point where they would normally be teleported to Grandfather's space station, I think I'll segue into them exploring the "memories," except they'll be stored in some sort of Ancient computer. I think, instead of the scenario being the PCs in Grandfather's memories, it seems more plausible to me that they explore stored memories, being kept in something like a "psionic hard drive" that the Ancients who served Grandfather used to store their recollections and experiences. While there have been no creatures on the space station to use this system in 50,000 years or more, the memories are still fresh.
As to why the PCs end up in the memories given in the module, I think that Grandfather has "activated" them, so they happen to be the ones "easiest" for untrained users (the PCs) to access. Grandfather is reviewing them for precisely the reason that he has identified his antagonist and is checking records of them.
Does this make sense to everyone? Am I overthinking things?
