Ship on the cover of Module 3

Because the unit symbol on the tail of the ship is that of the 4518th Lift Infantry Regiment, I would presume that it is one of the System Defense Boats from the Regiment's Orbital Aritillery detachment.

I thought so too. Marc Miller seems to think it's a very large transport. Presumably a military one...

The ship on Spinward Marches is a sort-of “Aliens” cargo transport. Huge; we had no accompanying drawings or plans.

Yessir, doesn't look that huge to me.

Suppose the "bridge" is the little triangular prism on top and slightly forward. Size estimates can vary greatly, but assuming those little slits are windows, the bridge could be 20m on a side, 32 tons on the lower deck, and 8 tons on the upper, which would guesstimate the ship's volume at 2,000 tons.

The airlock would then be 10-12m on a side.

This question seems to come up regularly; on Page 4 it says the ship, (more accurately a boat I guess), is a gunship from one of the 154th's battle riders.

I'm guessing he was referring to to the ship being investigated, which is on the back cover of the book, and not the one on the front cover.

Never caught that before but I see it now. Before this I thought it was one of the battle riders but the description of the Nolikian on page 35 shows four gunboats without providing any further description.

I'm trying to convert the Lurenti and Nolikian designs to MT at the moment so this is a very helpful discussion. If the gunboat is 2,000 Td then I've got some changes to work on.

That is how I always loved to picture a Type S Scout Ship...but GDW could not afford to have artists to render it such beautiful detail save on a cover.
