Are current Terran sports (e.g. football, basketball, chess) still played in the Solomani Confederation (or elsewhere)? Is there any canon information about this, or non-canon, for that matter?

Not sure about canon. However, rollerball is still played in some places IMTU. Also, variations on most Terran sports. (Of course, new adaptations crop up, too, as people settle low-grav worlds and in space habitats and such.)

I vaguely remember an article about the Imp marines on Terra (Digest 13?) were it is mentioned in passing that the Marines had a soccer team for the World cup.

It is indeed Issue 13 of the Digest.

The Marine Cup. Winners of the Terran World Cup play the All-Marine All-Star team in an annual exhibition match with the proceeds going to charity.

The Marines are overall down in the series, but have a winning streak starting in 1101.

All part of the pacification programme...
