Striker Book 3 DS 3 Number of targets one auto cannon can engage

Morning all,

Striker Book 3 DS 3 Auto cannons Steps F: Autofire Hit Bonus and G: Number of Targets both use the Autofire Bonus Table on DST page 10, which has me a bit puzzled.

Overview:

In Step F the values in the Rounds column of the Autofire Bonus Table are half of the ROF value determined in Step E. When the half ROF value falls between two listed values on the table use the lower of the listed Rounds value to determine the range bonuses.

Step G appears to use the full value ROF calculated in Step E to determine the number of targets that can be engaged by the auto cannon.

Here is what puzzles me:

1. Does Step G really use full ROF?

2. If the ROF falls between two of the table's Rounds column values do I use the smaller value, as directed on DST page 10, or the larger value?

Step G points you to the table without further elaboration.

Autofire Bonus Table defines ROF as rounds per phase. A phase is half a turn. The ROF in step E is calculated from the CPR Gun Table, which provides ROF in rounds per turn. Ergo, use half the ROF calculated in Step E when trying to get the bonus from the bonus table.

Autofire Bonus Table also instructs you to use the lower of the two values when dealing with ROFs falling between two values; we've already established that some of the examples have errata.

Thanks Carlobrand,

I did get that the Book 3 DS 3 Step F Autofire Hit Bonus used half the ROF which is clearly explained by combining Book 3 DS 3 F page 17 and in the notes for the Autofire Bonus Table on DST page 10.

Unfortunately, at least not until the last pass through the design process, I used Step E to determine Number of targets. Again, thanks for providing Cr 20 worth of thoughts, but they will have to be put on my tab.;)
