Sorry for the long wait for a reply...
We cherrypick.
I use the penetration system for the PCs armor and ae integrated it with the CT system. For the most part round has to get through before it can do any serious damage, except concussion damage from the round hitting in some cases, which might cause the Charater some contusions.
I use the weapons, vehicles, vehicle combat and hit charts, and the spotting and artillery sections a lot. I use the personnel wounds table for NPCs and opponents. It is a lot easier ticking off boxes for light and serious wounds than it is to keep track of individual damage points. The wound table has also been translated to CT, by saying that the first light wound on the table is 1D6 of damage for a PC, the second is 2D6-3 the third is 2D6, the first serious wound is 3D6 and so on . . . (This is just an example. I am too lazy to dig the table out right now, but I think you get the idea?)
The wound rolled can never exeed the maximum dice damage of the weapon (obviously), unless a "12" is rolled and then there is a damage multiplier that reflects getting a critical hit (hitting a soft-spot, getting in a lucky shot, freak events etc.)
