Striker Rules...

Judas

SOC-7
I also have a re-write of the original Striker rules that Mr. Miller knows about. I have sent him a copy of the rough draft (before final edit, but he should have the final edit by Wed.). I do not have a PDF version of the rules yet (I need to get a new editor or some conversion program - the rules are in MS publisher .pub format)

I do not know what the status of my re-write is, but if anyone would like to see them let me know.

The new rules have been updated for a lot of the Traveller material that has been produced for GURPS Traveller, and for MegaTraveller, and TNE. I have also updated a lot of the technology that was based upon presumptions from 1979/80 when the rules were written (like computers being these huge things, and the PC being a foreign concept, or communications that like cell phones, and stealth technologies, just to name a few)...

That is one of the reasons I have been working on the rules re-write (actually I did that in 1987, but it was hand written, and I had to type it into a digital content so that it would be easier to eidt)

Anyway....anyone interested?

Sounds interesting. I don't game much and really don't have enough free time for tabletop figure gaming, but developments like these are always of interest.

I'd love to look them over.

I wish you every success with this project.

- Neil.

Since I am exploring about three different house rules systems for doing combat and considering the BITS At Close Quarters for rpg combat look at the Striker rule mini work sounds very interesting.

Re Striker:

My original set long gone, I bought FFE005 ("The Classic Games"). Unfortunately, page 4 of the Design Sequence Tables is mising; they printed page 8 twice instead.

Email to FFE has been fruitless. I can patch in similar rules from FF&S and Central Supply Cat., but it would be nice to have the actual Striker tables.

As I recall, there were errata in JTAS — but I don't know whether they apply to the reprint (which apparently is of the 5th printing).

Can anyone help?

Best wishes for the Striker revision, by the way.

I'm also interested in having a look, if you don't mind.

I should be able to pdf them from .pub format for you if you haven't already managed to do it yourself.

Cheers

David

There's a .pdf file of the missing page in the files section (at the bottom) of the ct-starships yahoo group.

You'll have to sign up to get access but it's mostly painless.

I should have checked FFE's updated Website before posting; it has a GIF of the missing page. It's a bonus, though, to learn of the Yahoo group (and the PDF). Thank you!

As the most comprehensive source, Striker is usually my basis for CT weapon/armor/vehicle stats. There are neat ideas in the Books, Snapshot, and AHL — but basic stats differ.
