Subsector PDF design.

What did you use to make it?

For my upcoming campaign, I am working on a hyperlinked document. Clicking on a system will bring up a full page on that system with a return link to the subsector. On a higher level, the entire sector will be displayed, with each subsector hyperlinked to what you have.

basically.....:D

I made it with office 2010, I'm interested in your hyperlinked document though; looking at eclipse phases core rules really raises the bar on what could be done. I could do it all in CS6, but then the file sizes really begin to balloon.

Do you have Access or Visio with your level of Office?

I'm a consultant mostly doing interfaces for Hospitals and I have an Excel workbook I use to document them. I usually implement a high-level diagram when there are multiple interfaces involved. I use the "Quick Shapes" and hyperlink them to either another spreadsheet file, or somewhere within the workbook.

You can get fancier with Access or Visio, though.

I am fiddling around with an Access-based application to do that, but am not on a schedule or anything....

I'd prefer a black on white starmap, myself. Not bad, not great. Directly comparable with Sup 3.

I forgot to mention I'm also pulling images from travellermap.

Yes, I have Access (and have used it for work purposes, generally tracking labor schedules) my fear is that anyone receiving the document, would need access to view it. I still would like to see what you make. :)

I used some of the print images, though they seem to lose resolution and not look as good in the pdf. S3 is definitely the guide, with quick and easy being the driving concept.

What's the difference between the blue systems and the white?

I guess the Na is Non-Aligned?

And are you not marking bases, or just haven't gotten to that point yet?

Blue is for hydrographics, though some strange atmospheres (ie D) will make it white as well if it does have liquid water. I might change that, I have been saving as a png and then changing a bit in photoshop to make a little sharper, it's not exactly working the way I want it to though.

Yes, Na is non-aligned.

No bases in these subsectors, which I have been thinking of adding, it's just another column on the table, so no biggie. I'll post another subsector with bases in a while, to show the difference.

These are pretty good.

But I'd rather see them black/colored on a white background, so that if one wanted to print them, they wouldn't eat through the black ink/toner like there's no tomorrow.

I do prefer the colored ones over the print style, but I won't print them ever, the print style can be done, they just look a little plain to me:

You can use colors, just don't use a colored background. Many of us have limited toner/ink budgets.

It would be insane printing the black background ones, but if there is enough of interest, I would make the print style with a white background.

I have the overall sector map (which I believe I sent you), and here is a more finished product with adjoining subsector names on it; this as a word doc will provide a template to make more subsectors easily. Though I also made a pic, for where two sectors have a "cross roads" type intersection of worlds close enough on a low jump route.

Here is the nearly finished Stane Subsector:
