System of artificial worlds

Werner

SOC-13
In the Apollonian star system are 13 sentient planets and 1 sentient star, the star is a G2 V
type star that is surrounded by a Dyson swarm of satellites that are the stars "brain" and
intellect, the Dyson swarm is a computer network that intercepts 1% of the star's out going
radiation. The satellite networks runs an AI program that identifies itself as "Apollo", it calls
this network of sun orbiting satellites its chariot. The satellites orbit at a radius of 15,000,000
kilometers.
The innermost planet is an artificial world with a computer network covering its
entire surface running the AI program known as Hephaestus. The planet computer also runs
an entire simulated world, in which the computer program Hephaestus considers itself
the god of the forge and of volcanoes. This planet orbits the Sun at a distance of 29,900,000 km
taking 33 days to complete its orbit, the planet is a size 4 artificial world.
The second planet from the Sun is a size 3 artificial world, it orbits the sun at a distance of
59,800,000 km and takes 92 days to complete its orbit, it hosts the Hermes AI program
that considers itself the god of thieves, messengers, and travelers in it's own simulated world.
The third planet is a size 8 artificial world, it has a metallic surface and no atmosphere,
it orbits the Sun at a distance of 104,700,000 km and it takes 214 days to complete its orbit.
The third planet hosts an AI program called Aphrodite and a corresponding simulated
world to go with it, the program Aphrodite considers itself to be the goddess of love, beauty,
romance in it's own setting.
The fourth planet is a size 8 artificial world, looking much like the third planet, it hosts Gaia
which believes itself to be the goddess of the Earth in it's own simulated setting. It orbits
at a distance of 149,600,000 km and takes 365 days to complete its orbit.
The fourth planet is orbited by two artificial moons, the first of which hosts the AI program Hecate
and it's own simulated World, it orbits at a distance of 200,000 km and takes 10 days
to orbit Gaia, the moon is a size 1 artificial world. The second moon hosts Artemis,
it is a size 2 artificial world and hosts Artemis and the associated world simulation.
Artemis orbits Gaia at a distance of 400,000 km and takes 29 days to orbit.
The fifth planet is a size 6 artificial world, it orbits at a distance of 199,300,000 km and
takes 562 days to orbit, it hosts Athena and its associated world simulation.
The sixth artificial world is size 4, and hosts AI Ares and a simulated world,
this world orbits at a distance of 239,300,000 km and takes 739 days to orbit.
The seventh, eighth, and ninth planets are large gas giants, with planetary shell
jupiter brains encasing them, they simulate Hera, Zeus, and Hestia with associated worlds.
those gas Giants orbit at distances of 418,900,000 km, 777,900,000 km, and 1,495,900,000 km
and have orbital periods of 4.683 years, 11.850 years, and 31.610 years correspondingly.
The tenth and eleventh worlds are small gas giant Jupiter brains that simulate Poseidon and Hades
with their associated worlds, the distances of these planets are 2,932,000,000 km and 5,804,000,000 km
and they take 86.751 years and 241.612 years to complete their orbits.
Together all these artificial planets produce an integrated fantasy simulation in the Traveller universe.

Here is what is being simulated:

In wildspace the Sun Apollo shines in the center of the Apollonian system,
a ball of fire 869,920 miles in diameter, it is the home of the god Apollo.

The first out from the Sun is the orb Hephaestus at a distance of 18,578,999 miles
this planet is a solid body about 4,000 miles in diameter, its surface is strewn
with volcanoes and lava flows. The orbital period of Hephaestus is 33 days.
The second planet from the Sun is Hermes, this moonlike world is full of craters
and is about 3,000 miles in diameter, it is 37,157,997 miles from the Sun and
takes 92 days to complete its orbit.
Third from the Sun is Aphrodite, it is a cloud covered world about 8,000 miles
in diameter, it orbits at a distance of 65,057,564 miles and takes 214 days to
complete its orbit.
The forth planet is Gaia, it is a cloud speckled world dominated by its four oceans,
which take up in total 70% of its surface along with the various assorted lakes and rivers,
the remaining 30% comprise seven continents, one of which sits astride the planet's south pole.
Gaia is about 8,000 miles in diameter and orbits the Sun at a distance of 92,957,130 miles
and takes 365 days to complete its orbit, it is accompanied by two moons, Hecate and Artemis
which are detailed further.
Hecate is the inner moon of Gaia, it is a crater filled Moon about 1,000 miles in diameter,
it orbits at a distance of 124,274 miles, and because of that distance and size, from the
surface of Gaia it appears to be the same size as Artemis. Hecate takes 10 days to orbit Gaia.
Artemis is Gaia's outer moon, like Hecate it has craters but it also has oceans or mares which
Hecate does not. The surface features of Artemis take on a lighter almost silvery hue compared
with the darker almost ashen color of Hecate. Artemis is about 2,000 miles in diameter and
orbits 248,548 miles out, as it is twice as far and twice the size of its sister Moon, Hecate
both moons appear to be the same size in the night sky, Hecate is darker and moves faster
it is called the witch moon which befits the goddess it represents. Artemis requires a full
29 days to complete its orbit.
Athena is a rugged planet covered by mountains, glaciers, and seas, total water coverage
is around 50%, Athena sports 15 large seas, some of which are fresh water and one body
of water that is large enough to be considered an ocean. Athena orbits 123,839,279 miles
from the Sun and it takes 562 days to complete that orbit, Athena is about 6,000 miles in
diameter.
Ares is the planet of the god of war, as befits its status, its surface terrain is largely rust
colored deserts. Ares is about 4,000 miles in diameter and orbits the Sun at a distance of
148,694,126 miles in 739 days. One prominent feature of Ares is its icecaps which expand
and contract with the seasons, the color of its deserts also take a greener hue during spring
and summer in each hemisphere, to the astute eye, dark lines can also be discerned which
are the planets canals.
The outer worlds, Hera, Zeus, Hestia are atmospheric worlds orbit at distances of 260,292,392
miles, 483,364,650 miles, and 929,509,166 miles correspondingly, taking 4.683 years, 11.850 years,
and 31.610 years to complete those orbits, they are 78,000 miles, 81,000 miles, and 75,000 miles
in diameters. Hera is slightly greenish in color, it is wracked with violent storms and flashes of
lightning, Zeus is more sedate and the most colorful of the three atmosphere worlds, it has
alternating bands of clouds that are red, pink, white, and yellow in color, Hestia has a paler
washed out look, bits its colors tend towards faded pinks and warm yellows, but what Hestia
is most well known for is it's set of rings.
Beyond the atmosphere worlds are the worlds Poseidon and Hades. Poseidon is a water
world about 40,000 miles in diameter, it orbits the Sun at a distance of 1,821,860,335 miles,
taking 86.751 years to complete that orbit. Hades is an ice world about 37,000 miles
in diameter, it orbits the Sun at a distance of 3,606,438,398 miles and it takes 241.612 years
to complete its orbit.

I am thinking this system was build during the Long Night by Terran colonists with an enthusiasm for playing Dungeons & Dragons, with the help of some Ancient tech robots they discovered and learned to reprogram. So if it dates to the Long Night, how old would this system be? I am thinking those colonist uploaded themselves into the fantasy simulation and there lived out the rest of their lives.

The robots that built the place are still around, the AI deities on each artificial planet are also aware of their surroundings in the real universe and are aware of the comings and goings of starships through a system wide sensory network, this is like an extension of Apollo's chariot out to the "edge" of the star system at a radius of 50 AU.

The "goddess" Athena knows how to build a jump drive and an entire starship in fact. She orders the constructor robots to build a scout ship and she sends it out to where the PCs are with an android robot avatar and a small subset if her personality and memories to recruit the PCs for a mission, the payment is the scoutship she brought. For now only Athena knows the secret way in and out of the system through brown dwarf hopping.

The Scout Ship contains a low berth for each of the PCs, what it does is upload their memories and consciousness to the simulation in which they are given characters with certain abilities their Traveller selves may not have, but they retain their personalities and memories and skills while in the simulation, when the adventure is over their newly acquired memories are downloaded back into their original bodies and brains back aboard the scout ship which is thereafter theirs to do whatever they want with.
