T20 in LA County

TheBrain

SOC-11
I'm looking for players and/or GMs in the area for a game in Pasadena (you know the Rose Parade place)I don't have any details since I'm waiting for any responses so post a reply or drop me an e-mail just make sure you put TRAVELLER in the subject line so I don't trash along with the spam.

THE BRAIN
Sci-fi laws of probability
Odds of your pizza arriving in 30 minutes: 50/50
Odds of blundering into a wormhole: More than likely.

Theoreticly about 30 minutes away with good traffic. For a regular game I would put up with that, of course CT well those are long ago memories.

I was just sending my players off on a survey mission which of course is about to go wrong when a misjump sends them offcourse to a small out of the way TL 1-2 planet rimward of the Imperium. Of course the jump drive fries itself in the proccess. But as I am a benevolent despot there is source of repair, its just that it happens to belong to a group of K'Kree who are busily grooming a local goverment to conquor the rest of the population for them in order to turn them into another happy soy munching subject race.

Mine has the crew of a Medship exploring the local subsector in search of survivors of the Virus (and any pre-Virus technology), in order to bring them back into the fold.

The problem is, there has been no contact with the Third Imperium for a very long time. The government that sent out the Medship is acting as an ad-hoc representative of the 3I, but has no real authority to do so.

Also, there are worlds where society has taken a radical turn from Imprial standards of behavior. Then there are some heretofor unknow aliens with plans of their own.

Pardon the interruption, sirs...

Keklas, how far are you from the Temple of the Mouse?
I shall be in the vicinity; at the Anaheim Hilton on the second week of September. Dunno if I'll have time to break away, but if I get time, and if you got a game going, I'd love to sit in as an observer.

This is the cat typing on the PC:
77777777777777trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Please forgive the 90-day delay - it was a N I C E summer break! Too *&^%$#@! short, though. Even though this TL-negative-three 'Pewter lost it's ability to access the net for a while.

I live about 3 kliks west of the Micro Rat Temple, and two kliks south of the Farm of Knotted Berries.

The adventure is on hold since most of the players are back in school.

Greeting one and all. The Brain, are you still looking for players? Even at rush hour I'm less than 20 minutes away, just up the 210 in Tujunga.

I fear the mouse house is alittle too far for a regular game...sigh.

(disengaging lurking device)
Ya I'm still around although you're the only response I've had so far. I'd like to get a group of at least three or so players together so if you know of anybody else interested let them know. I gonna have to resort to the TL 5 game store bullitn board to try and scare up some other participants.

As soon as I am over the feverish delirium, I'll start mentioning it to friends. Any particular day that is good for you over others?

BTW, are you familiar with LASFS?

Tuesday and Wednesday seem to be the most likely canidates. And no what is LASFS? I'll tkae a wild guess though Los Angeles Si-Fi Society?

Very close, it's Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society. I mention them because they have a club house and on Friday nights, they have gaming. Some of the gamers are RPG'ers... haven't done any Traveller yet, but I've managed to get them in general into d20 gaming.

They also have gaming on the second Sunday of each month, (like the 11th of Jan and the 8th of Feb.) that usually starts sometime around 2ish and goes to midnight, or so.

It is in N. Hollywood, on Burbank near the 170.

So far, I haven't found any other folks in the area that might be interested in Traveller. Of the weekdays, I'd say Wed is better than Tues.

Just a quick update, I have talked with some of my gaming friends have got back definately ambiguous answers, ranging from "What's Traveller?" to a 5 minute rant about the guy once knew a jerk from Pasadena. All in all, no actual answers, but they might get interested if I can get them real info. (None of them have the T20 book, BTW)

Well first off I would arm thy self with a copy of T20 Lite I think they have that for free download still. That would give them a grounding in the technical aspects. As to to some setting tell them to imagine a sci-fi universe without selfrightous jedi sticking their noses in your buisness and no mamby pamby prime directive getting in the way. I usually run a published adventure for starters in order to get a feel for a new group then its off on the twisted path of my own mind.

LOL... on Saturday, I'm getting together with this particular group to play a group of self-righteous Jedi!

While I'm there, I'll try to get them to DL the T20Lite rules, or maybe I'll have a chance to burn a CD before then. How big of a group do you want? Can I give them any hints as to the type of adventure you are likely to be running? I know that several folks in this group like lots of violence... FGMP-15 will be one of my selling points for this!

By the way, do you actually dislike the Star Wars type stuff? And does that mean that I won't be able to run a Drow Jedi dual weilding lightsabers?

Well to be honest I thought SW was one of the best RPGs out there i have a stack of West End Games product about 4 feet tall to prove it. Then came the dark times the Lucas rewrites...
I mean for almost 15 years WEG kept SW alive added and expanded the setting and was able to make it consitant. Then Lucas comes along starts cranking out prequals turns everthing on its head...sigh

don't get me started.

As for hints well if they want violence well nothing like a little boarding action, or the good ol' fashion bug hunt ahhh sweet violence
no matter what some people say it is the answer, maybe not the best answer but always an option.

WEG put out some good stuff, but I felt that it was like a Corvette with a Yugo engine. Looked good, but hard to do anything with it. I did not like the game mechanics of WEG's d6 system. While the d20 system is not exactly perfect for SW, I think it is an improvement. (And most of the WEG stuff can be converted. :D )

Converted oh ya ouch what an uberbeing my WEG SW character became when I converted him over for kicks one time. Any word on those other prospective victi...players? I've got at least one of my usual long time associates lined up, you'll like him what with his almost obsessive preference for elven fighter/mages. He'll probably try to con me into letting him roll up a Darrian psion.

As for the opening act I'm going the middle of the road and using an old JTAS Amber Zone adventure hook, The Chill I think it was called.

THE BRAIN
"Don't worry this mudball is only TL 6 what are they gonna do to stop us?"
Last words of the PC who forgot that TL 6 starts off will machinegun prop planes but also includes 5 megaton antiorbital missles.
