T20 Trade in a CT game?

erisred

SOC-12
I like the way T20's trade system works. It's like a jazzed up B2. However, I continue to use CT/MT style systems for most everything else.

Has anyone converted the difficulties, modifiers and such for the T20 trade systems over for use with CT skills and 2d6 rolls? Would anyone be interested in working on that?

Basically,

Cargos:DM+ Liaison Skill
HP: DM+Steward
MP: DM+Admin (or Recruiting/2)
LP: DM+Streetwise (or Recruiting/2)

Double Occupancy: 3d6*5%, DM -4 for HP

To find Speculative Lots:
2d+(Broker or Trader)+Special; Time Increment = 1 hour (x3d-Broker-special).
A: Average (7+)
B: Difficult (11+)
C: Very Difficult (13+)
D: Formidable (15+)
E: Staggering (17+)
X: Impossible (19+)
Special = UWP/2, round down. {1}
Delivery takes 4 days after purchase. Speeding it up costs 10% per advance day. Optional: roll 1d; on 1, delivery takes 3 days, on a 6 delivery takes 5 days) No retry for 1d6 days.

Predicting AVT rolls
1st Die:
Routine (7+), Trader and Edu, Instant. No retry.
Prediction lasts base 3 days, x margin of success {2}

2nd die
Formidable (15+), Trade and Edu, Instant. No retry.
Prediction lasts base 1 day, x margin of success {2}

Broker levels are directly comparable.
To function as broker +X:
Varies, Broker and Int, 10m. Cost as percentage of goods
+1: Routine (7+) 2.5% (Hire: SP D+)
+2: Hard (9+) 5% (Hire: SP C+)
+3: Difficult (11+) 7.5% (Hire: SP B+)
+4: Formidable (15+) 10% (Hire: SP A)
+5: Staggering (17+) (T20: DC 35) 15% (no hire)
+6: Impossible (19+) (T20: DC 40) 20% (no hire)
Referee: May replace Broker with Bribery at x2. May hire a broker for double the listed cost% provided parenthesized conditions are met.

Notes:

{1}divison by looking at Range(UWP)/Range(TN) and discovering R(TN){T20}=25, R(TN){CT/MT}=12, so (10/25)≅(5/12) thus range of mods

{2} Margin of success: Roll-TN. Treat 0 margin as x1/2.
Alternatively, simply use rate per level of skill, as per MP, but double on Critical success, and half on made by 0 (marginal success).

Thanks Wil!

I couldn't get on here for a couple of days and was very happy to see your post. I think I actually understood all of it, and it makes sense. Now, I'll have to see if I can apply it in a game...or three. Hee, hee!

Note that this includes "Half-levels" of difficulty for the MT/DGP-CT task system... I did that to retain the distinctions. In my own games, I'm likely to round down to standard CT/MT diffs.

Cymew: It means any "Very Difficult" becomes Formidable, and any Staggering becomes Impossible.

Looks remarkably like what I whipped up on the fly.

But, what does the "10% (Hire: SP A)" mean?

Ten percent broker fee and it takes a Port A to find such a broker?

It means that a Broker must pay 10% of the cost of the found lot. It also means that, if a broker of that caliber is to be found for hire, the cost is doubled ("May hire a broker for double the listed cost%") to 20%. Further, I edited to add a clarification: The parenthesized requirements are the required port to find that caliber of broker available for open hire.

Note also that the broker +5 and +6 levels are an extrapolation by me. I've playtested it, but it's non-official.

Sorry if I'm dense, but do you mean that the Broker has to do a 10% downpayment for the lot found, or what?

I feel like I'm slow getting this...
