TA Authors

This is an 'open' topic intended for use by Travellers Aide writers to update me and the worls in general to their progress. Please keep other topics and posts out of this forum - discussion of what you want from Travellers Aide would best go in a topic of that name.

I'd like ALL Travellers Aide authors to post an update weekly here.

We've had a number of people ask detailed questions about a TA concept then go silent. I assume they've decided not to pursue, so the topics are open to others.

Queries about issues (ie, is that one still open?) are welcome here. Discussion about specifics should be done direct (mjd.qli@virgin.net)

OK, I'll go first.

TA3: Ground Vehicles is out, and the printed version should be back from the printer any day now.

TA6: Against Gravity is a compendium of grav vehicles. The writing for this is complete, and it is in layout and/or waiting for art work.

TA?: Through The Waves is a compendium of water craft, both surface and submarine. This is about 2/3rds written, hampered by the fact Word decided to eat the manuscript. I didn't loose anything except the formatting, but the tables are a pain to recreate.

Guilty and my sincere apologies. No excuses, just hardware and software nightmares the last while. I had presumed and accepted that the delay would open up my proposed submission to others. I will continue working on it for my own use and when complete if no one else has undertaken it I will resubmit.

I'll go next then.

TA5: Objects of the Mind, an adventure set in Ley Sector in 993 where a group of skilled investigators (or the player characters if they aren't availible.. *grin*) are hired to retrieve some stolen objects, is finished and with the folks at QLI and soon to be released.

That's it - not as many as Tom. I feel inadequate... ;)

If you've expressed an interest then had problems, and still want to nail down your TA, stake your claim here.

Martin.

I emailed you mine this evening there. Hopefully it's all okay for you. Any comments let me know.

I'll work for a bit on the one I was wanting to do originally and see how far I get and how quickly. If I think I'll get it done in a reasonable amount of time I'll let you know other wise feel free to ignore it since the last one was so late.

we now have several TAs in the works, and so long as they all come in on a decent time frame, things are good. As in, you can take 6-10 weeks to write one and I won't get mad at you.

My turn...

TA?: [Not yet titled] Recent proposal to MJD. A globe-trotting political conspiracy adventure set on Starfall in 993. Right now, I'm aiming at writing it for a group of characters at Level 4-6. That's 'to be confirmed'. I've committed to submit an outline to MJD in a couple of weeks, once my work on Starfall Cluster and another project (non-Traveller) is completed.

I have a couple of other concepts on the back burner, but I'll wait to see how this one turns out first.

So how would we go about developing and introducing new rules? I'm thinking specifically about new starship equipment that hasn't been covered before but I think have their place.

I simply wrote the stuff up and assumed it would be OK. If you are worried about it, you could post the proposed list of changes here and get them playtested.

First Update: TA ?: "Starfall Conspiracy"

I've started an outline draft for the adventure, but our big annual game convention is on this weekend here in Ottawa, and I'm running a couple of games, so I can't promise much progress until after the weekend.

Second update:

TA?: Against the waves. Five vehicles left to go, then redo the TAS vehicle forms for all of them. If I can flog myself into working this weekend, I can probably finish them and have the editing and forms completed by next week.

Martin. Are we allowed to tell people what we are working on in order to ask for suggestions? I mean is it supposed to be kept secret?

Don't post your text or anything, but there's no big secret about what you're working on.

Weekly Update TA ?? 76 Aliens

Outline complete and first sample to MJD departing later today, work progresses well

Hi all,

I am happy, nay honoured, to report that "TAx: Small Trading Ships" has begun it's roll toward production.

The book will cover four or five different small trading ship (*gasp* what subtle titles he chooses!), with descriptions of each ship, a look at the uses and economics, variants, examples in service, adventure hooks, and deckplans by CotI's very own Brook "Tanuki" West (and if you haven't seen his work I can't recommend it enough).

I'll keep you appraised of my work, but suffice to say that so far there ain't much money in running a Far Trader!

See you at the trade exchange!

Shane (HOW MUCH LOSS!?!?) Mclean,,
with more than able assistance and ieas from Pete "Zinzan" Scarrott.

I have begun writing on Specialised Ships of the Imperial Navy and have completed three ship sections, Medical Ships, Assault Craft and Fuel Shuttles.
