MGT Only: Teaching New Players (Downtown Los Angeles)

Saturday, I'll be at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles (on the revolving cocktail lounge), talking about the game mechanics of Mongoose Traveller 1st and 2nd Corebook editions. Getting players new to refereeing Traveller acquainted with developing sandbox scenarios quickly for use in a starport setting surrounded by neighboring arcologies. And a 360-degree view of downtown LA while rolling 2d6.

Was this attached to some sort of gaming event? Or you just decided to play Traveller in an awesome location?

No game event. Just an idea I and some friends thought of doing while we were in downtown LA. A friend of a friend was staying at the Bradbury close by. So we also spent some time there practicing how to Referee a scene from Blade Runner, and discussing ways to handle sandboxed encounters for real-time games.

It was great having the buildings around us for guiding the scenes. Traded phone numbers with a guy that owns a BTTF Delorean (from the first movie) who wanted to show it off.

Wish I'd known about this earlier. I work in Downtown LA and I'm very familiar with the immediate area around the Bonaventure Hotel.
