After supporting guerrillas on Spenser, and failing to hamstring Oriflamme there, the Planet Teldora applies for voluntary admission through Aubine. They are in remarkably good shape for a post collapse world and have large population, with a moderately talented government similar to Aubines. But what are the people like? What sort of character write up would they get?
As reluctant members I image they would support the Federalists, hoping to maintain some independence. Although Aubani intervention has saved them from Oriflammes potential aggression, they quickly chafe under Aubanis wing, why?
First Aubani habit of lecturing; Teldora is closer to its original tech level and had to recover with a growing population and without Hiver help;
Secondly the Aubani reputation for manipulation; the Aubani might have "helped" them against the 'flammers or maybe manipulated them with the carrot and stick approach. Teldora at the end of the day is still absorbed and are worth another 20 or so Federalist votes.
Thirdly, the Teldorans are unlikely to be impressed with the idealistic speeches coming from a similar government of only 150,000,000 humans using 650,000,000 aliens to get more voting rights than the 200,000,000 Teldorans and then under represent those Aliens in the Coalition assembly.
The level headed Nimbans they will probably see eye to eye with. The Spiri and Luhtalans will probably gain sympathy as other Aubani manipulations; but not taken too seriously.
On the Centrist side; they still fear the 'flammers. The Balduri (whom everyone seems to love) they have nothing in common with and are unlikely to trust in their judgement any more than any other drowning man.
The Fijans on the other hand will be firm friends across the Federalist/Centrist divide. They are logical, have experience with bootlifts (as the Teldorans must to have recovered so far, with so many people) and seem to lack the passionate expansionist Dawn-League victims mentality of muck of the RC.
As a final element I imagine them reading the articles of the Dawn League and mourning the change that led to the Coalition. Perhaps they argue for a return to Dawn League methods and beliefs.
I may even have them head up a third block (the "Moderates"?) with the Nimbans and Fijans to act as a counter to Aubines rapid expansion programs and Orriflamme/Baldurs rapid integration programs.
[Note interpretation is effected by events in my campaign; it is not strictly canon; as all games are changed by their players]
Ideas? Counters? Comments?
