Terran Trade Authority video

Possibly missed a post where this has been shown already (a search did not yield anything) but when I saw a link to this video, I wanted to share it with Traveller players. Terran Trade Authority (TTA) was a series of scifi starship pictures with a background story linking them - and they were inspiration for quite a few Traveller adventures for me when I started playing and GMing.

The ship from 2:18 to 2:30 in the video reminds me of the 400t Subsidized Merchant at the stern - mixed with a bit of the 400t Patrol Cruiser on the 'wings' :)

Holy-OMG! I bought those books as a boy after Star Wars hit the theatres. I read them cover to cover and enjoyed the art work taken from various sci-fi novels, and put into a story book form.

But never, in a million years, did I ever think anyone would take those old books and create a game and CGI video for them. I mean, wow. That's amazing. A new generation of Masta-Blasta-Pasta-Mater comes to the fore. :)

A few years back, Adrian was part of an effort to revise and update the books.

For those seeing similarity to Traveller ships, odds are that the TTA books' sources were the inspiration; Adrian's works are almost all directly taken from the TTA books.

The TTA is a big-ship universe, with a capital BIG.

And it's an excellent vid. I wish the NewTTA books were still available. I don't know why they got pulled. The TTA RPG isn't great, nor particularly bad, either, but it's got some excellent background stuff.

I'm really in love with this video. The more I see it, the more it reminds me of my wayward youth spent reading through those books, and imagining all those far away places. Really cool stuff.

Excellent editing too, and shot composition for the music. Very well crafted.

I just noticed a scale error. The sky warrior or war bird that approaches the sky base in the book is supposed to be a small craft, and the base is supposed to be this titanic colossus of a construct with a miniature city inside as well as atop its super structure. Yet the fighter flies by it like it's only a few sizes bigger.

Oh well.

I've been in contact with Adrian from time to time and I asked him the same question about the music... which is odd as it is totally different to anything I like ;O)

You know my addiction to the TTA Universe...

He's started another video

Foss never had anything to do with the TTA books, just he was doing his stuff like Peter Eslon, Burns, Haye, McKie, Layzell etc at the same time... just so you know. ;O)
