The Theta Borealis campaign

graden1

SOC-12
Can anyone tell me where to find more info on interstellar societies in the Vanguard Reaches, Iphigenia and Theron sectors? I've got UWP data from various "Atlas of Charted Space" websites, but no historical information on the Murians, the Regency of Muirimi, Correllian League, etc.

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Thanx heaps,

Wow, you go way out spinward to play.

Well, insofar as Theron or Iphegenia sectors are concerned, I haven't seen anything. Once long ago Paranoia press had a supplement on the Vanguard Reaches, but I think that that particular supplement has been superceded or maybe cast aside. I dunno.

Paging ancients! We got questions!

Here is a kind of answer:

The Iphigenia sector is also known as the Dark River sector and was the sector publish in the Tidewater Traveller fanzine. Dark River was publish as a LLB size book a la The Spinward Marches/Solomani Rim but is pretty rare (also be warned of pirate photocopies going around on E Bay as I was stung! (unless you don't care about that sort of thing)). The idea is that it is a sector divided down the middle by a interstellar rift - quite a pregnant one imo!

Theta Borealis was (again I think) the Group One franchise. I have a few Group One products and all I can say is poor production values and little by way of fleshing out of history. If you can find a cache of Group One stuff you could have a few afternoons of fun making it all fit. Group One were good (well...) at the weird alien thing but also fell into the trap of printing deckplans and putting in D&D hack and slay type adventures into them.

Vanguard Reaches - you need the Paranoia press supplement - if you e-bay its available and sometimes cheap (I bought mine in 1981 or so and still read it today). Unless the Paranoia press website has been updated.

Thanks for the info, Elliot!

At this point, the campaign is almost over, cut short by a sudden job-related relocation. Good opportunity, too bad about the game. :(

I might look for those supplements, anyway. It'll be a while before I run this campaign again, but I never stop working on it. In any event, it looks like I'll be able to continue developing this thing w/o violating canon much.

Dr. Malia! Nice to hear from you.

Somewhere in Georgia. Haven't decided exactly where, yet. This week I found out the move has been pushed back a few months, so I spoke too soon about ending the campaign. At this point, it's up to the players. I think they want to know how it ends!

Take care,
