CT Only: The Traveller Book - Print On Demand

I want to know how this works too.

If I order it do they print it and bind it then ship it (to the UK)?

If you're in the UK, last I heard, they have a POD center in the UK, so shipping is relatively low.

If you want to know about quality - the actual POD center is Lightning Source, so you can look it up.

Note also: DriveThruRPG is the same company as RPGNow. Has been for several years now. Which is why the answer to an RPGNow question comes from a DTRPG FAQ page.

Question: What's the quality of these books? I see that it's a scan of the original book (which I have, and it has stood the test of time).

If it's anything like the CT CD scans, it looks great! I print out sheets from the CT CD on my printer every once in a while and they're pretty good.

Since nearly all books published are POD now, the The Traveller Book book is produced just as well as any other hardcover book is. The print quality is on regular 20lb paper (same as Mongoose Traveller's paper). The pages are perfect re-prints of the original hardcover pages. The ink is black and red.

Took 7 or 8 days to ship to California. They had some already printed.

My copies of this just showed up. They look great! The binding is solid, the printing looks great, and the splashes of red on the interior illustrations are as bright as ever. :)

This book is a bargain at $20. It equal in physical quality to any of the Mongoose books and half the price.

Yep.

I ordered mine on 4/24 - current status is "Confirmed" at the printer. I'm glad to hear the quality is so good. How long did it take to get to you?

Are the pages stuck to the spine with lots of glue or (*crosses fingers and holds breath*) did they bind them in signatures?

One of these days I'm gonna write the Folio Society and beg them to make a proper, leather-bound, gilt-edged edition of TTB.

Yey, I have it in my hand and it is perfect.

The book is slightly thinner than the original but there is no problem with the paper quality.

The print is crisp and clear and so far I haven't found a single error in reprographics.

Why couldn't the pdf of this been updated with errata (pulse laser and effect of a crew hit)?

Add the 5 pages from the MT Referee's Manual about tasks as an extra appendix and you come close to having the ultimate edition of Traveller :)

Yeah, really you only need a nice handy core book. The rest can be scavanged from prior publications or dreamed up on your own. But having a freely-available core book like this one keeps a game afloat.

Definitely think CT Supplement 4: Citizens of the Imperium should be added in as well. (And maybe some weapons from Book 4: Mercenary on the weapon tables). Otherwise: agreed.
