Traveller Con follow-up

I had a great time this weekend at Traveller Con USA. Shout-outs to John Watts and Wayne and anyone else that I met first here and got to know better in Lancaster. If you were at the con, say hello here or in a PM.

I'd love to know who the older gentleman wearing the "Space Ranger" costume was. He was great.

I got to play in John's Clement Sector game and Mel White's CT sandbox game (made up characters at the table and ran with it). I also ran my Nova Roma ATU game, which went really, really well.

All said, it was a great con despite the terrible, terrible hotel.

I agree. I had a blast. Originally, my plan was to be there for all three days, but last minute changes (went to a WWI airshow in Va Beach the weekend before, so I had to cancel the hotel room in Lancaster) made it a one day trip for me.

Saturday morning I was in the GURPS Traveller game at table 1. Confession, not only was this was my first time roleplaying at a con, it was my first time actually being on the player side of the Traveller screen, and my first time playing a female character. So, obviously, I had a blast.

In the afternoon session I played in Greg Lee's T5 Cirque game. No spoilers, in case any of you are playing that adventure. Suffice to say we had to concoct a clever plan, and it ended up using monkeys. Great fun!!!

I'm looking forward to next year, and maybe I'll convince more of my gaming circle to join in.

Adam, it was great meeting you as well. I'm sorry I missed out on the New Rome game.

It truly was a fantastic convention and I enjoyed every minute of being there. Really hoping to be able to get back up there next year.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, and there's a bit of an After-Action report in this month's Freelance Traveller, just posted!

"Kaylee, what the hell's going on in the engine room? Were there monkeys? Some terrifying space monkeys maybe got loose?"

It's all good in the circus.

Just FYI...

I will be running episodes of Cirque again at both Arisia (Boston, January) and Templecon (Warwick, RI February) this year. Let your friends know, at least.

Also at the con

I was also at the con. Had heard about it several years ago but never seemed to synch the time/money/calendar thing to be able to go. Mostly went to check out the scene as have not been in an rpg in 10+ years and Traveller in 25+years..

Having been to other types of cons, this con did not live up to my expectations, but after further reflection I realized I had false expectations.

I am hoping to go again this year as I had some good conversations and saw an interesting tabletop fleet game action.

Have had the majority of CT LBBs and some of the other iterations of Traveller books but no GM/Gaming group to play with and would like to get back into the game. Time to dig them out of the closet and read through them again.
