Travellermap.com down?

Site come up but map doesn't display at all, just black space.

If this is still happening to you:

  • In general with sites, try using downforeveryoneorjustme.com or isup.me to see if it's "just you"
  • Do other pages on the site load? e.g. travellermap.com/info.htm ?
  • Do the API demos work? travellermap.com/api.htm ?
  • Do you have any extensions or settings that would block scripts?
  • Try a different web browser.

If you determine that it's the browser, let me know (here, PM, blog comment, email, etc) what operating system (e.g. Windows, Mac, ...) browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE, Safari, etc) and browser version you're using.

Alright, I admit it, it was me, I was practically living on travellermap when I was making the Fulani, Astron, Theron and Theta Borealis sectors for my campaign. I used up all the bandwidth. :D

While you're all here.... does anyone have the Gateway to Destiny: Gateway Domain sourcebook handy? Mine is in storage, unfortunately.

The data files I used truncate all world names down to 14 characters. I'm wondering if I can get a volunteer to compare the possibly-truncated names in the data files against the book. If so, I can email the volunteer a list of the candidate worlds.

I would help, but I don't have the book.

It is the Library Computers I am currently stuck using. I used to be able to access TravMap from here, but they went through a software upgrade and now scripting is off.

Oh Well, just havta make me own. Won't be the first time :(.

Your "isitdown...." link appears to be spammish.

Yep, that's bad, will edit. Thanks for noting it BG. Might have been hijacked or simply closely copied of the original to get faulty recall hits.

This is probably what was meant (what I use):

downforeveryoneorjustme.com

Or the shorter easier less adverts to the same:

isup.me

The correct link is "downforeveryoneorjustme.com", without the "isit"; there's a short form, "isup.me" as well. It's spammy in the sense that when it tells you the site's status, it's also got links for the operator's hosting service, but it's not in any way malicious, doesn't ask for or snoop your email address, or in general behave as a truly bad netizen.

Don't have the source books, but I was just snagging a few .secs for a project (many thanks!) and noticed the source for Gateway sectors as http://dotclue.org/t20/

Turns out, though all the .sec's I found there are limited to 14 char names, the PDFs actually have the full names, though looks like you already fixed them... From the Google spreadsheet, noted H-10 (Glimmerdrift-2124) is auto filtered - it does appear on the PDF and I looked in my old (~2000) HES data files and its there too (that listing only has a handful of names), if that means anything. (Wonder if it refers to a Hiver world from the CT alien book?)

Are the .SEC files the exact source you use for generating travellermap tiles?

I'll be running them through a validation program I wrote 12 years ago originally setup for Sunbane copies of GEnie files and then Galactic and H&E - any info on your auto-filtering available?

Yes, I'm using the dotclue files by J. Greely. C/o swiftbrook I fixed the names, but no other changes, and yes the site works off the files directly. There are some obscure sectors where worlds are named by subsector-index, so the site filters those out. I'll improve the heuristic soon.
