Traveller's Aide #3

Bruce,

Is this the TA that was offered to those of us who had pre-ordered the THB to make up for the lateness of the delivery of the THB? If so, how do I get my copy of it? If not, that's cool, too.

Thanks,
Flynn

Did you download both the screen and print versions of it? If so, each one costs a 'credit'.

</font>[/QUOTE]Hm. Two problems here.

1) Yes, I did download both version. However, I was under the impression that we got _both_ formats when we selected an issue. If this is not the case then it needs to be made clear on the website -- and I'll be wanting a refund.

2) I also downloaded both versions of TA3 -- and only got charged one issue. The "Download Again" button gives me the choice of both formats -- which further strengthens my impression that you get both formats (otherwise why give the choice when downloading "again")?

Heh, so I'm not the all knowing Bruce ;) but...

First, to Flynn, did you try to log in and download it? My understanding is that you should have a single issue credit applicable to any issue. I prefer going in through the eLibrary door. Just click the little Log In link on the right.

Next Robert and Shane, each issue does cost a credit BUT allows download of both the pdf and print versions as many times as you want, like in case you lose them. As for the remaining issues problem I can't say. It looks like mine is tracking correct. It said I had both #1 and #2 with 11 issues remaining of my 12 issue subscription, so it knew about the free issue for my pre-order. At least I don't think I had any other free issues  After downloading both versions of #3 it now says I have 10 left so either my account is not affected or they fixed the problem already. If not I have no doubt they will notice the complaints and respond.

On another note, the headline link to the new issue #3 at the top of the CotI Discussions page actually links to issue #2. Somebody might want to fix that

I'm one of those folks who got their pre-order late (but get I did!) & currently have zero download credits.

Unless it was for some other small service I've forgotten during the long wait. This even though I'm still waiting for my book, though they are looking into that. Hunter had said something about (way back) a confirmation e-mail for the pre-orders that would include the info for the account access (I think), if that helps. Maybe this offer works a little differntly for those without a subscription?

I've tried to log in to check it out and see, but the system is not recognizing my password. Who should I speak with on this matter?

Well is TA #3 good? Inquiring minds want to know...

Also, this issue with having to pay a "credit" once for the print version and once for the color version is kinda silly. Why would I pay for the same info twice? Or how bout this, cant you just take the color version to a printer that only prints in black and white and print it there?

My 2 cents anyways....

Hey, haven't had a chance to read it yet
but I'll probably write up a review again.

Just for clarity if you are getting dinged two credits for the same issue (pdf and printer versions of the same issue #) there must be something wrong with your account. You buy each issue once (either singly or as part of a subscription) and then you can download each version of that issue as long as the website and QLI exist.

The printer version is supposed to be less graphic intensive to make printing quicker and more economical but if that's not an issue for you then you could print out the pdf version.

To be honest I dont have a subscription yet. I was just going by what the person above said. More Guns and More Vehicles, I think that says it all. Im already sold on the Travellerss Aide's:)

I think ill head on over and purchase a subscription.

No problem, in fact if you want to check out my reviews of the first two they are on the
Traveller's Aid Society Network in the Library .

I hope you enjoy your subscription, I'll probably be hacking out a review of #3 for JTAS tonight or tomorrow.

Hmm... I'm still wondering about that free issue. I pre-ordered the book and received it late. I have an account from ordering single issues of the TA's. There is no free issue assigned to me. What's up?

QUERY:

Can I download both print and screen versions as one issue to my subscription account, or do they count separately (i.e., downloading both versions of one issue count as 2 issues)?

I would say yes as I do not have a subscription, but I can go in and still download the ones I have bought in either format.

That being said, I have not yet seen in my account the promised free issue for those of us who pre-ordered the T20 book and waited patiently for it (I am assuming that that promise was not in reference to the TA#2 we got for pre-ordering in the first place).

Now as TA#3 was released less than 24 hours ago, I would say it is a little too early to press the panic button, but not too early to give a gentle reminder. :D Somebody has to take the time to update everyone's account.

Use the contact page and email me about this and I'll get you squared away.

This applies to pretty much anyone who has a problem with their account. Shoot me an email and we'll get you taken care of. I've already been through a batch tonight so if you have already emailed us, check your email.
