vehicle acceleration

what is the difference between standard acc and max accel, if they don't come into play with the accelerater, rapid accelerate and emergency accelerate maneuvers in advanced vehicle combat. maybe i'm reading these wrong, but they just multiply the standard acceleration.... When does max acceleration come into play? Thanks.

C love

SO - in Advanced combat,

i) if they accelerate normally, they can change speeds by their accel rate during the round as a move action. (DC 0)

ii) if necessary, as a full action they can rapidly accelerate. This increases the speed by twice the Accell rate. plus a DC of 10 or lose control.

At least that's how I read it.

i still don't understand why the rules design have a max acceleration listed. The combat system doesn't use it and the vehicles in the standard designs don't even have the acceleration changed for the presense of a high agility... so why is max acceleration even addressed? Thanks for the reply.

I didn;t think that high agility changed the accell rate (But could be very wrong)

As to why a max - it only really matters in chases. On the other hand it does give you some idea of the raw Speeeeed of the thing - a personal speeder travels at nearly Mach 2!

in the design section for calc'ing speed and acc, the paragraph gives the formula for calc'ing standard acc.... then states that max acc is = standard acc * agility...

this little detail seems to elude everyone (it eluded me at first aas well), so i'm just gonna recalc the acc of all created vehicle to the new max acc (since no one in combat who needed to acc faster and could would take any hesitation in using the vehicle's max instead of waisting the full round action to multiply it by a constant) that way a increase in power (but not power train), would increase power and as such increase agility (and acc), like simulating installation of a turbo charger or something like that. If anyone has any other iddeas or thinks anything of the previous sugestion, let it out for all to enlighten :D
