Ok, with Octoberfest nearly and some parts already upon us. We may all agree that most American beer*, some microbreweries aside IS dreaded Vilani beer incarnated many years before First Contact. Let's vote for then the best Terran beer...

My vote is for (1) Gambrinus (Czech Republic) (2) Paulster (Munich, Bavaria) (3) Pilsner Urquel (Czech Republic)

*Out of sympathy for our American colleagues they had better not vote in this competition lest they get laughed off the planet. Afterall, there is a joke that is well known in my part of the world...

What is similar to making love in a canoe and American beer? <Says it all>

i have a friend from the UK. he insists that the trendy thing to do in England is to drink Bud Light.

"Bud Light - Because regular Americian beer doesn't taste enough like piss."

soloprobe,

you know, i really can't taste much of a differance between Bud and Sam Adams. there's SOME, but it's not like, say, Bud and Lowenbrow. i like Lowenbrow (sp?). or MGD. i like that, too.

Phydaux,
you make an interesting point(after 3 you can't taste and don't care) I recomend We do an experiment of our own. We should taste and compare...yes , I like Bud, lowenbrau, and Mgd. your hypothosis needs testing Come to boston and we'll compare and contrast.....

Beer? Real sophonts drink tea! Long Island Tea, that is...

Ingredients:

1/2 c. Tequila
1/2 c. Gin
1/2 c. Rum
1/2 c. Vodka
1/2 c. Triple Sec
32 oz. Lemonade
32 oz. Coke (Pepsi won't do)

Mix all of the above together and serve over ice.
Makes 3 quarts.

Of course, I had to give up drinking - naturally!

"The BEST beer is the one that comes for free!"

-----errr,no, not always. Had a friend going off to the army...invited many people for an all night bash with two and a half kegs of Budweiser.

It rained. Miserable grey rain.

Six people showed up to stay. the soon to be soldier's Dad said: "Finish those damn kegs before you go!" and NO-ONE argued with the old man.

I don't even remember if we did it or not...remember hosing down a large gentleman who fell in his own vomit...had to strip him down to his whites, carry him indoors and throw him, unconcious, on the couch.

When I decided to call it quits, I was told I could 'have' the floor...right beneath that couch.

For some reason, I couldn't sleep well...

...talk about your Sword of Damocles!

Budweiser became 'low grade camel piss' for many years....despite it being free....

Gats'

Ok just don't let this thread die until Octoberfest is over...

Answer: Both are ⌧ing close to water.

Japanese beer is still better than American beer. I would have to agree that Ashashi is a nice beer, goes well tempura and sushi.

My own taste is unreliable, but an Alsatian friend maintains that Shiner Bock is the only American beer worth drinking.

I miss Lone Star Dark (available only in Kegs and only in the 1970s).

The ironic thing is that the usual Shiner and Lone Star beers are cheap regional beers, like Pabst.
