Vilani: Imperial Marines

Would any one know if there is an official Vilani word for Marines?

I found Army and Navy in the wiki but not for Marines. What I am doing is using my Vilani fonts I got with the T5 dvd to create some decals for some 15mm armor. I've got the maroon sunburst down to size so I probably don't need to have "Imperial Marines" - I think the sunburst would make that redundant. However, I would like to attach a decal to the opposite side of the hull with the Vilani word for "Marines" in Vilani script.

Any ideas?

Shigniid Dia Ugkin

According to GURPS Traveller: Interstellar Wars:

GT:IW, p.91 (inset):

There is no organization in the Vilani military comparable to the Terran Marine Corps. The line between Army and Navy is strictly drawn, and neither service can conceive of a force under the control of one that would execute some of the duties of the other. The closest thing the Imperium has to an elite Marine force is the Shigniid Dia Ugkin, the “Legion of the Frontier” (see p. 94).

The Aasha [Navy] does have security troops for shipboard actions and guarding naval institutions, but these are considered naval personnel. Meanwhile, the Army has a few interface craft.

GT:IW, p.94

The Shigniid Dia Ugkin

Occupying a unique niche in the Ziru Sirka military, the Shigniid Dia Ugkin (“Legion of the Frontier”) is the wild card in the otherwise predictable Vilani armed forces. Made up of subject-race troopers, malcontents, and outright criminals, the Shigniid Dia Ugkin is a cross between a penal battalion and the French Foreign Legion.

The Shigniid Dia Ugkin is composed solely of assault troops.

Thanks

I can't really spell it out here, it seems CotI doesn't have Vilani fonts, go figure:oo:

In any case, that is for 3rd Imperium Marines, correct, not Ziru Sirka? As the decals are for Trepida IIs, which didn't come online until 1109 of the 3rd Imperium, or there about if I recall correctly.

The quote is for the Ziru Sirka era (1st Imperium) not the Third Imperium. It is possible that the Vilani have since created a word for Marines by the Third Imperium era (or "Vilanicized" a Terran word), but I have no idea what it would be.

Bleh. The Vilani in GURPS: IW is my least favorite part of the book, because it's basically gibberish that breaks whatever's been done previously to set up Bilanidin as a functioning Conlang. At least the stuff that GURPS made up for it.

At any rate, here's what I've come up with:

'Kagne' = Marines, wet or otherwise (from 'kag' to board + 'ne' military force).
'Kagnisha' = Space Marines (variants of the root word 'asha' appear in several Vilani words associated with space and military units encountered in space).
'Kagne/Kagnisha Dadaga' = Imperial (in the modern sense) Marines.

Wow, thank you. I've most of the canon material on PDF and I looked in the usual sources as well as JTAS and just couldn't come up with anything. But I cut and pasted your phrases and changed the font and it looks nifty.

I'll try 10 to 13 pt font and print it out on decal paper and see how it goes.

Thanks again
