What about BITS?

Absent Friend
There has been talk about QLI's license sunsetting in a few years. Then that of Avenger's setting late this year (and their strong possibility of a side deal of some sort)...

But what I really would like to know is what will happen with BITS?

Is their license going poof at some point in the near future as well? It is my understanding that the Mongoose/Miller agreement put an end to all Licenses aside from the SJG License.

If so what does this do to all the cool projects they have on the table like Universe 2?

It is no secret that BITS put out in 2007, what is by far my most favorite and IMHO the first adventure to truly capture the Traveller feel in a very very long time (Cold Dark Grave).

It might be possible to ask them. I'm sure there's contact details on their website.

Not official. But I've been told by one major player at BITS that their license is safe.

I'd rather let them talk about details.

Not that I'm any sort of official voice of BITS but as far as I'm aware there is no change to their licence agreement.

I hope you all are correct. Like I have posted here and elsewhere, I would hate to see any Traveller sources go by the way side due to any reason.

Also, I have sent an email to the BITS crew requesting that they (if they can) make some statement as to where things stand. I told them about this thread so hopefully they will post here or the other option was to send me a brief note with permission to post it here.

Here's to good news.

My understanding as a BITS bod was that our licence continues as before, but I'm not the guvnor.

We are certainly still working on cool stuff, some of which hopefully should see print this year (there, that's jinxed it... [grin]).

As several of my inestimably able colleagues* have already indicated, BITS' license will be continuing for the foreseeable future - we have a good working relationship with Marc and have already built up an excellent rapport with Mongoose, with plans to work with them on future BITS products.

I hope this will alleviate anyone's fears about BITS. To be honest, I'm more troubled by the difficulty that we have in getting product out the door, but I hope that 2008 will be somewhat of a change, with the publication of our first campaign adventure.

*Now they're going to go away and wonder if being "inestimably able" is a good or bad thing... like any good referee, I'll leave you guessing...

Getting hold of BITS products

While the BITS persons are here: Given how many people love COld Dark Grave, it'd be really nice if it were available at Warehouse 23...

Just sayin'.

Thank you for your praise concerning Cold Dark Grave. Unfortunately, like all our books, because we print in the UK, and only have relatively small print runs, and the number of Travellers buying in the US is not enormous, people like Warehouse 23 can only afford to buy in a bulk load of BITS stock occasionally and if they run short of one particular item, they won't immediately re-order.

Anyone wishing to get hold of our Traveller products (101 books, adventures, the bibliographies, Power Projection, etc.) can buy them through our eBay store - just go to http://www.bitsuk.net/Products/buying/buying.html and click through to the AncientTomes link.

<Excuse start> Please do allow plenty of time for your order to reach you though, because the main BITS office is a one-man, when I'm not doing real work or spending quality time with my family, operation, so it can take some time to process orders. <Excuse end>

So long as some of you are still enjoying our products, that's all that matters to us.

Andy
