Will work (on deckplans) for Traveller books

I'm broke. I really am. No money, so I got alot of Traveller stuff second- and third-hand for cheap (or get free DTRPG releases). Which means that there are books I cannot get, or which I could only get a VERY shabby copy of. I'm quite desperate, and desperate times warrant desperate offers.

So I have a proposition for you with old Traveller books and/or a better monetary situation than me. I propose to work for you - on deckplans for Traveller ships - in exchange for you mailing me a Traveller book or two. I'm proposing deckplan work on relatively large ships - up to 5,000 dtons (or two huge 20,000 dton design is you buy me a copy of T20). The deckplans would be TU-independant so you'll be likely to publish them in your products without infringing on Mike Miller's/QLI's copyrights. You'll get full rights for these deckplans, so that you could publish them in any place you want.

The deckplans will be done in Paint Shop Pro 7 and in any graphical format that this program will save to. For examples for my work, look here.

What I'm looking for are five items: T20 (only if it is legal for someone to buy one for me from QLI), MegaTraveller's Referee Book, T4's Pocket Empires, TNE's World Tamer's Handbook and TNE's Fire, Fusion and Steel. Each will warrant you with three 5,000-dton (or less) deckplans; financing me a purchase of T20 from QLI will get you TWO 20,000 dton designs!

The timeframe would be one month per 5,000-dton design or two months per 20,000-dton design.

So what do you think?

I will send you money (US$) for a deckplan of a 5,000 ton exploratory cruiser.

Why money (by check)? Because I have none of those books, that's why!

Yeah, would you be willing to accept actual money?

I'm willing to get paid for deckplan work; this, ofcourse, will have two issues to resolve:

1) Is it legal to get paid for something including a HG design? Or is there a way around this (i.e. I mail you the HG design for free, you pay only for the GIF?)

2) I'll have to check the bureaucratic complexities related to sending money internationally; I'll have to see how big the comission will be. Ofcourse, you could just "pay" me by creating an account for me on QLI's (or is that CotI's?) online bookstore and putting money into it, with which I'll eventually buy T20.

Not sure about #1, but why not use PayPal? A number of us have made transactions here using that, even overseas.

It's legal if Avenger Enterprises pays you (and also in other circumstances too but that's not my point).

So, Employee, you do deckplans huh?

Want to do some for us? We pay a stupidly small amount or I can probably get you credit for Avenger/Comstar releases.

Will Avenger Enterprises accept deckplans done in my method (see my blog)? And how much is the pay? And could you get me credit in QLI? I'd like to get myself a copy of T20.

I can't get credit with QLI right now, no.

I saw the plan you sent me and I think it should be useable, though I'm not sure exactly what we'd be doing just yet - maybe an adventure set aboard a big wrecked liner....?

Or, would you like a 5,000-dton Asteroid Mining Rig? I could even write an adventure for this one (a horror one? a political/labor unrest one?) for you.

another option would be drivethroughrpg.com gift certificates, which would involve no international bureaucratic issues at all...

Scott Martin

(who unfortunately designs iteratively with FF&S and deckplans, or I'd be on this one... I'm certainly interested in getting more material to E 2-4601 so that he can post still MORE stuff to this board!)

Another proposition. As far as I know, you have to pay in order to access the T5 Playtest material (is it a CotI Moot subscription?). If so, I'll do a 2,000-dton deckplan (and HG or LBB2 stats) for anyone who'll "buy me in" to this access privilegue (sp?), with the additional benefit of getting me to work on the T5 playtest material (and I promise I'll invest serious time in it).

I've found a seller (of several out-of-pring MT and TNE books) in exchange for some writing work; the books will be arriving to me in 3-4 weeks. However, I am still looking for someone willing to exchange the following items for deckplan work:

1) T4: Pocket Empires
2) T20 main book
3) MT: Referee's Manual
4) MT: Player's Manual (hardcopy only)
5) MT: World Builder's Handbook
6) TNE: 1248

Er, do you mean World Builders Handbook? Grand Survey (along with its companion Grand Census) were CT products. (And the material in GS and GC formed the basis of WBH.)

I can feel for you. Though I'm employed, ongoing medical bills & a higher deductible this year have forced me to liquidate all my SF & Traveller art as well as gaming books to pay it off. So I wish you the best of luck & hope this works out for you.

I've just recieved T4: First Survey; the MT and TNE books I've told about earlier have arrived a week ago.

But my offer still stands: 1,000-dtons CT-style deckplan in exchange for any of these books:

1) T4: Pocket Empires
2) T20 main book
3) MT: Referee's Manual
4) MT: Player's Manual (hardcopy only)
5) MT: World Builder's Handbook
6) TNE: 1248
7) T4: Imperial Squadrons
8) T4: Central Supply Catalogue
9) T4: Emperor's Arsenal
