Not on the list: Type SA Solomani Free Trader. Jump-2, M-2 and 160T of cargo space. Nice looking ship as well.

The Type SX Solomani Fleet Courier is an attractive ship as well (if you like B-Wings), and would make a better yacht than the Type Y if money were no object, but the Type SA wins on versatility and practicality.

If I had to stock to the specified list, I'd probably plump for the Type A Free Trader. It's a really cool, evocative design.

None are really ideal.

then may I suggest the Erin-class? j2/m2/fp, wilderness-capable, fully-armed and supporting of laser weapons, variations constructed at any tech 11-14 yard. operable by a standard manning of pilot-navigator-engineer-gunner but capable of housing up to ten crew. the free-and-clear lower deck may be configured to any use necessary - cargo, passenger, yacht, special team.

Just released from final debriefing and psych-eval, your Anchor-rat from Net-7 News chimes in on this poll.

After looking at the available list, your Anchor-rat chose the closest selection to the 300dT Calypso-class, "stretched" Far Trader as a preferential starship.

Now, my character, Senior Scout Gevaudan "Gev" Cannagrrh favors a variant of the 200dT Far Scout, one that features Jump 4 and Thrust 6 performance.

I like the Calypso-class, though there is a desire to apply High Guard to it and tweak it even further.

These modifications would warm the heart of any speed demon Vargr.

Live from Serue (Knoellighz 1221), this is the Pakkrat for Net-7 News.

After much deliberation I went with the subsidized merchant.

There is so much you can do with that standard hull, from basic white van to Q-ship convoy protection vessel.

The Scout. Reasonably cheap, reasonably mobile, can lift a few adventurers and some equipment.

Far Trader. Almost works as a small trader. (I find J-1 a bit restrictive, so no Free Trader.)

Subsidised Liner. The people transporter with some legs. The ship for the small mercenary outfit.

The Patrol Cruiser/Corvette is beautiful, but makes no sense as a combat craft without armour.

Type T for player-scale military
Subsidized Liner for general travel
Kinunir for average military
Serpent Scout for explorers

And oh yes, the Donosev for long-range exploration.

Presently, I have two. One, the ANNIC FALCON, is a derivative of the ANNIC NOVA, intended as an long-duration exploratory vessel. She is Droyne-crewed, and uses the energy from a "pocket universe" to power maneuver and jump drives, with some other modifications.

The other is the Wandering Minstrel, a 600 dTon former subsidized merchant, based on a modified 400 dTon subsidized merchant hull. She is capable of Jump-3, and was built on Frenzie to the order of the government of Thanbar for trade and cargo delivery to Retinae, Dekalb, and Quare. The proceeds for the ship were greater than anticipated so that additional ships entered the trade, and the Wandering Minstrel was declared surplus, and turned over to its captain and crew in exchange for 10% of the next ten years revenues. Currently, the ship is engaged in a 5-year contract to the government of Ficant in the Vilis sector for service to Vilis. The contract has proved to be extremely lucrative, and the ship will be free of obligations to Thanbar at the end of the 5 years.

Let me tell you about my mother...

Why, Lord Eaglestone, a HMS Herald class expeditionary yacht, of course. :smirk:

And speaking of I need to get back to work on the next one.
