Cruiser C-DB33 Enforcer MCr135.1

Using a 400-ton, TL12 hull, the Zirunkariish Enforcer is a generic naval vessel (marketed as a Cruiser; more appropriately called a Patrol or Picket) sold to poorer systems for routine operations.

It mounts jump drive-F, maneuver drive-F, and power plant-F, giving a performance of jump-3 and 3G acceleration. Fuel tankage supports a 3 parsec jump, at 40t per parsec, and one month of operations. Attached to the bridge is a Computer Model/3. There are 8 crew staterooms, four luxury passenger staterooms, and 10 low berths. A platoon barracks houses up to 22, including gunners and troops. Installed weaponry include two T3 Missiles and two T3 Beam Lasers. Cargo capacity is 5 tons; however, the ship's boats can each carry an additional 19 tons. The ship has a braced hull, and cannot skim fuel. Its boats can each skim up to 19 tons per hour.

There are two 25-ton Ship's Boats. The ship has 10 crew: pilot, astrogator, sensop, 3 engineers, 4 gunners, and a medic. It can carry 4 high passengers and 10 low passengers.

Actual volume: 391.5 tons
Crew comfort: +0
Passenger demand: +1

THOUGHTS. Since this design can't enter an atmosphere, I see no reason for keeping it under 400 tons. In fact this seems to be a strong argument for making it overtonned.

The only argument against overtonnage -- it seems to me -- is that it might inflate the cost. If this ship is intended to be cheap, that is.

Overtonnage affects Agility, Agility is basically initiative in space combat, if I understand correctly. Combat ships should probably look for undertonnage.

What's up with the Lux passenger staterooms without any Steward? It's hardly a passenger ship? Just include a few extra crew staterooms?

Charged structure would get you a lot better armour, for very little extra cost?

(Note: I would not accept this ship: a 340 Dt ship with a "400 Dt" hull and 50 Dt external craft swept under the rug as overtonnage is just too much. For me.)

Where is that card from?

It's from one of Marc's two Traveller card decks. And I can't remember which one.

Assuming this promo is correct, it's in deck 1, although the proof image shown THERE makes it an 800t ship -- a proper cruiser. But in the deck, it's a 400 tonner. No true detail though, so it doesn't matter.

These 50 card decks (uh, maybe 54 cards) are nearly half weapons. One deck has ten or so generic world types, one has six starships, there is practically no "equipment", though there are medals and similar.

A significant number of non-weapons I consider "mustering out benefits", so I randomly draw them when generating "quick" characters.

Ah, I'm going to have to write up an inventory now.

Yeah, it's definitely not a passenger ship. Plot hook.

I remember learning, a bit to my chagrin, that *any* character has the equivalent of Steward-0. So this ship is capable of transporting VIPs between these poorer worlds, and one of the crew is going to be stuck playing Steward Of The Week.

No guarantee those VIPs will be naughty or nice, so this generates its own table:

1. Inexperienced young noble looking for adventure.
2. Baron attending a regional summit.
3. Llellewyloly dignitary transferred to another embassy (hence the Adaptive LS too).
4. Baron's cousin going shopping one system over.
5. Local big-business factor transporting local product to neighboring system. (< Legman smuggling drugs).
6. Merchant princes overseeing a business expansion/takeover.
