Hi guys.

I just got the M0 book on ebay, and when it landed on my doorstep I realize it is one big hardback with what looks like another supplement patched in.

Is the M0 book supposed to be hardback, and with a section named "First Survey" in the back, with pagenumbers starting from 1 again?

Or did I get two books for the price of 1/2? One good and another not so good...

First Survey was previously released as an individual book before the edition you owns. So you got two books for the price of one. Quite frankly, I never understood why people would even consider to expend money in a computer generated list of star systems, but First survey does have its fans.

OK, I was a bit surprised since I didn't know they had been combined.

Like you I don't understand such a book. It was one of those books I looked at when T4 appeared, and it didn't sell me on T4 I can tell you that! That, and the abyssmal 70-ies look of T4 took me off Traveller for a few years.

I always thought that it should have been put on a webpage somewhere as a free download. If they had at least did some maps and writeups of the worlds...

Well! That aside I'm a happy owner of two books in one. Better late than never. :D

And now for the extra good news. The hardback book you have has M0 and FS combined, plus some extra pages that weren't included in the originals.

All in all a very good buy

And a re-post to save you digging through archives:
...as far as I can tell by quickly skimming the two books the hardback's extras are:
chapter9 Timeline and significant events which looks at the events up to year 200 (according to something I read Milieu 200 would have been released the next year for T4) and includes an expansion of the Imperium by sector table;
chapter10 Rivals of the young 3I, a very brief outline of six pocket empires;
chapter11 Adventures in Milieu 0 seven patron encounters and one long (8 sides) adventure;
chapter12 Worlds in Milieu 0 fleshing out the UWP data, including 7 new Universal Law Profile charts.

I have always been pretty impressed with the M0 hardback. The background material is well done, and while the stellar data of First Survey seems kind of dry for a stand-alone supplement, it fits in well in an overall setting book.

I now have thumbed through the book a bit more. It's good to hear from Sigg that I have gotten even more than two books for the price of one! :D

First Survey and the layout of the T4 rulebookmight have turned my off Traveller for a while, but this M0 book have made me interested in the other T4 books that are supposed to be good. Now I just need Pocket Empires and Psionic Institutes!

There were two Milieu 0 books published. The first was Milieu 0 (1996), the second was Milieu 0 Campaign (1997). Your book, Milieu 0 Campaign, includes both Milieu 0 (with 34 added pages) and First Survey. The First Survey portion also includes missing law level data from the original First Survey and provides a law level generation method a la World Builder's Handbook.
