I ordered the Books 1-3 reprint from Quiklink back in mid August - that's what I'll start with once the book arrives.

Good starting place. I highly recommend the Classic Traveller CD ROM for the next purchase. I had the origionals of 2/3s of what it contains and spent many times over what it sells for.
