It's marked "Version 0.91 Beta", copyrighted 2005 FFE, and dedicated to Lawrence Berman... 323KB in size, and beautiful. It is obviously derived from the software that Mickizoid used in her work, but the trade coding and coloring are different...

And it even suggests that if someone finds any problems to contact the editor: but I have no idea who that person is! I don't even know where I pulled this file from...

Any ideas?

Yeah, I have an idea. How about uploading it to the file area so we can eyeball it?

It's copyrighted; he may not. Would violate the board rules. I think that's why he is looking for the originator.

I think it might be Micazoid...

It is copyrighted (BY FFE! 2005), but Marc doesn't remember it. Mickazoid already confirmed it's not hers, but it does use her programming scripts for generating the maps, it just adds some stuff I think is neat (like Trade Codes appear on the maps).

And I won't post it until I have permission from someone who knows what it is. So READ MY MIND!!!

When I fist saw you post this I wondered, to myself, now I'll do it openly...

...is that copyright note just a (perhaps badly done) fair use policy statement?

It might explain (without impugning Marc's memory) why he doesn't recall it. And why it uses Mickazoid's work. It's just some fan's work posted somewhere and you saw it, liked it, snagged it, et voila, a mystery when you find it some time later :)

One thing, if you didn't think to try it, is there possibly some trace of ownership in the file properties or somewhere?

If the copyright is FFE, then Marc can release it even if he doesn't know who did it.

what is the exact file name?

I thought I had about every map and scrap ever made available via the web, genie, and usenet. But I sure can't find that map in my collection. My extensive googling has turned up notta so I am thinking it may have come from a now defunct website.

Yeah I figured it was a poor attempt at fair use.
