Just Curious

I was going through the bottom shelf of my book case and came accross an oldie called "Silent Death". It brought back some memories and I figured I through it out here to see if anybody recalls the game.

Fast paced starfighter "board" game. Relatively simple rules if I recall.

Just askin'

Oh heck yeah - Blat guns, the Lance Electra... Good times. Probably my favorite "small ship" miniatures game ever, though Jovian Chronicles/Lightning Strike came close.

I seem to remember playing a computer version of it. I also remember the tank version Centurion.

I think the Tank game was a different line. Legionaire comes to mind. Both games had a "Roman" feel to them. Legionaire had an RPG, a tank BG - Centurion, a small craft BG - Interceptor, and a capital ship BG - Leviathan.

Those games are sitting on my shelf right under Silent Death.

The tank game (Renegade Legion) was from FASA, the BattleTech and Shadowrun guys (oh yeah, and I think they did some Traveller stuff too, LOL).

Silent Death was from Iron Crown Enterprises (The Rolemaster guys), and is now owned by Metal Express.

The tank game (Renegade Legion) was from FASA, the BattleTech and Shadowrun guys (oh yeah, and I think they did some Traveller stuff too, LOL).

FASA Started off with Traveller supplements. Then they did STRPG and Dr. Who, and picked up battletech, all about the same time. Then they came out with Renegade Legion about the time they quit doing Traveller. And then, on to Shadowrun, and lost their trek license not long after.

Freedonian Aeronautics and Space Administration :)

Only unofficially. Officially, it was "Fantasimulation Associates" (according to their notices in various products, including STRPG 1E, pg 2).

As an interesting side note: STRPG is copyright to Paramount, not FASA... Fantasimulation Associates is the designers, and FASA Corporation is the manufacturer under exclusive license.

And then FASA's claim to fame was Battledroids....Soon changed to Battletech because of a lawsuit....or so I heard...the lawsuit anyway, I had a copy of Batledroids...still have the maps and rulebook somewhere.
