Great work! I love the clean layout and level of detail.

thanks, worked pretty hard to achieve that clean layout. basically it resolves down to continuity - uninterrupted corridors, uniform components, the shape of the open space. when first putting something together there's a tendency to just cram it all in and, when it all fits, to stop. but if you imagine people living and moving in it then it all comes together.

... and that's another failure on my part. after years of drawing these things it's all obvious to me, but not to others. I'll post a key version tomorrow.

I can follow most of the squiggles on there but what do each of the exploration graphics mean? Key?

Exploration Gig key

"exploration" is probably too strong a term for this boat. deployed on the ISS Lu Hao, it is meant to perform investigation errands at remote locations while the Lu Hao is engaged at primary locations. minimal crew is two pilots but most missions will require one or two additional mission specialists. the 0.5 dtons of fuel allow approximately 18 days of operations, though given the close quarters crew endurance may be expected to be considerably less.

1) cabin
2) double bunk beds
3) pillow
4) integrity air seal flange for when docked in boat bay
5) manual hatch for aft airlock
6) aft airlock
7) arrow indicates opening side of manual hatch
8) corridor
9) personnel gear locker with equipment cases and other stowage
10) lounge table bench seat
11) lounge table
12) mission gear locker with vacc suits, charging station, and other equipment
13) emergency low berths (four)
14) life support module - combination toilet/shower/airProcessor/waterRecirculator
15) forward airlock iris valve hatch
16) bridge (dot square is overhead hatch to attic)
17) emergency escape panel
18) pilot seats
19) flight control panels
20) holo-projecting viewscreen
21) attic
22) power plant flasks
23) standard navigation/comms/sensor suite
24) fuel tank
25) maneuver drives (4g, full unlimited hover/vtol)
26) gig gear locker with vacc suits, charging station, and other equipment

"armor 0+4" means the boat was built with no added armor but imtu has an inherent armor rating of 4 because of its tech level

imtu each life support module is rated to handle the needs of up to 4 personnel

as always these are all done up in mspaint, so if you don't like something on them then feel free to use mspaint or the artistic defacing tool of your choice to make any alterations you think appropriate.

Thanks for the explanation.

That's one efficient planetary hopper, but I don't think I'd want to prospect in it or do much of anything but planetary/moon survey with a base/ship in support.

I love the detail in this thread. It's inspiring me to come up with a Traveller event for the local gaming convention.

well feel free to use the boat, or maybe some portion of it. if you double- or triple-size the graphics they make good combat boards, though that might be a little extensive for a convention game. and if you do use it then some feedback would be good.
