Playtesters Sought for new CHARGEN

All - with Travellercon coming up in October I'm pulling together my adventure "So Others May Live" and I need playtesters for a new CHARGEN system the players will use.

The PCs are Deep Space Rescue Service personnel - think EMTs & Coast Guardsmen rolled into one, patrolling out about the 100 diameter limit should incoming or outgoing traffic need assistance. They spend most of their time in low berths until needed, then they go to work.

Email me at greg.caires[at]gmail[dot]com if you want a copy of the CHARGEN to playtest. I'm interested in any and all feedback.

Thanks,

Greg

Email inbound. And, I like the concept - opens up a lot of possibilities.

If you ever find it somewhere (or maybe Drivethrurpg.com has it) there's a game called FTL: 2448. They made a couple of books. Book 2 has a section on running EMR Corps. I'm sure it could be adapted for Traveller. Might give you some ideas.

Where did you say those low-berth were stored?

The low berths are aboard DSRS Emergency Response vessels that trace figure eight patterns out about the 100 diameter limit. One Sapper awake and alert while the others sleep - this extends their on station loiter time: one mouth to feed at a time.

You are free to use the term I came up with for such roles- the Space Guard.

Does the Coast Guard job for the 10D/100D limit- in spaaaaaaaace!

... trace figure eight patterns out about the 100 diameter limit...

Figure eight patterns. With Newtonian vector movement. Sure.

And, when the SAR asset is needed, one man takes the call, assesses the problem(s), plots an intercept, gets the ship on it's new course, and wakes up everyone else. Sure.

Canonically in the OTU that's COACC ... Close Orbit and Aerospace Command.

Ok so perhaps DSRS is a subordinate organization within COACC. My inspiration was the Air Rescue Service - a specialized command within the USAF that existed for several decades during the Cold War and is most famous for their operations during the Vietnam War.

Apologies, my weekend went sideways - planning to give you my initial thoughts & examples tomorrow. Would you prefer on here, or in email sir?
