Please think about writing some text to accompany this design, explaining your conception of its mission, history, reasons for various design decisions, quirks in the design, anecdotes about specific ships in the class, et cetera, and sending same along with this design to Freelance Traveller (editor@freelancetraveller.com) for the Shipyard.

How's this?

AK Solon class Exploratory Trader (TL-11)

Fullfilling a specialized role, the Solon can reach remote land grants in hard to reach places, such as size 9+ high gravity worlds, or underwater cities. Combined with a stongly overclocked power-plant and the ability to refuel from any source, the Solon combines strong versatility with an acceptable cargo load.

Designed to go where ordinary starship's can't, the Solon class is a 200 ton Config-SE submersable streamlined hull, with landing legs and lifters (MCr 12, 1 ton), fuel scoopes, and a fuel purification plant (1 ton, MCr 2).

Constructed at TL-11 for easy maintenance at most starports, the ship was built for the exploitation of hard-to-reach resources, and so is equipeped with a Jump drive B, jump bubble type (Jump-2, 15 tons, MCr 15), and Maneuver drive B (2G acceleration, 3 tons, Mcr 6) for landing on high-gravity planets. Power plant B (overclock rating 120, 7 tons, MCr 21) is installed for ships power.

Jump fuel is 32 tons, and extra power plant fuel ( 16 tons, 5 weeks at full output) is included. Note that fuel usage was reduced 20% due to power-plant overclock rating.

A half bridge (10 tons, Mcr 1, 3 crew spaces, 5 consoles) and standard TL-11 sensors are included (MCr 4.0, 3 tons, uses 3 consoles): Adv Surf LR Comm-11, Adv Surf AR Scope-11, Imp Ant LR Radar-11. 2 consoles are left, so for underwater navigation an Imp Surf LR Densitometer-11 (MCr 0.1, 1 ton, uses 1 console) is added, and a Jammer-11 (MCr 1.0, 1 ton, uses 1 console) for defense against pirate datacasters and sensors.

The frontier is a dangerous place. 2 triple turrets, with 1 beam laser, 1 missle rack, and 1 sandcaster each (2 tons, MCr 3.6) are standard

Ship's computer is a model 5 (MCr 3.2) with a semi-organic brain-1 (MCr 0.4) for versatility and 7 x Model 2's (MCr 2.8) each running an Expert System (MCr 1.4) at each each console and turret.

Armour is 6 layers of standard self-healing polymer-5 (10 tons, MCr 1.1), allowing for great diving depth as well as protection from conventional weapons if pressed into

12 Staterooms (48 tons) are standard. Cargo is 35 tons.

An open topped air-raft is provided (4 tons, MCr 0.4) for a variety of reasons, adjacent to the cargo area, in a hull niche with doors that open onto the back (1 ton, MCr 1).

Cost: MCr 76
