28mm Zhodani Warbots?

Well met, fellow Travellers!

I am looking for suggestions to easily (and cheaply!) field some 28mm Zhodani Warbots. The best idea I have come up with is to use B2 Super Battledroids from Star Wars with the legs trimmed off and some antennae added. The old WOTC collectible figures are readily available and reasonably inexpensive.

Does anyone have some other ideas? Thank you!

For 15mm you can make them by cutting plastic spru from a model kit and mounting it in a clear stand. Additional details can be added using plastic scrap from warship kits but the paint job makes the biggest difference.

Do you by chance have a picture reference? I can't quite envision how to do this.

I think they're simply proposing using the sprue from the kit at plastic rods, and then mounting the figures on that. If you're lucky, and have some transparent sprue (from canopies and such), then they can be "invisibly" supported. Otherwise, just paint them gray or black to hide in the game surface.

I use a bit of wire when I do flying things normally.

I go hold of clear base/stands - I think they came in a sci fi board game for mounting the minis, you can find similar to them on Amazon with a search "wargaming+bases+flying clear"
Then you can go to a hobby site and get them a lot cheaper.
