A funny thing happened on the way to the Starport......

Has anyone thought of introducing this as a thread? A place to share those little events that happened way back when we all played face to face and the long nights brought about things that can only be classed, in hindsight, as downright hilarious?

If so, where is it? If not, let's hear them.

Things like my group (way back when.......) were playing with a bloke who was keen to ref' but green as, and we had just obtained book 4 to play with. Long story short here......We were repelling boarders from a pirate corsair and the player with BT and a FGMP-14 fires at a pirate beside the cockpit iris hatch. It was about 4am real time and the damage table was read out as "roll 16D6^3" This seemed a bit excessive so 2 others checked the printed table and agreed that it read 16D6 to the power of 3!!! The game ended around that as there were quite a few dice showing 4 or more, and it was deemed that not even a ships hull could sustain that amount of damage without a breach.

It was around 2 days later when the referee called up to let me know that the chart should be read as 16D6-note 3!!

That was the last of our late night games as a group ;)

Yes!!

What can I say? It’s nice to know that I wasn’t the only one to make that mistake. My excuse was that I was young and trying to rope the players back in.

My situation differed in that I had the FGMP-14 in the hands of an Imperial Marine. One shot and one less NPC. It was truly a ‘when the marine force arrives the party is over’ moment. The fear of the Imperial Marine Force this incident instilled in the players worked wonders for my game. :)

Be lucky,
