A small gripe

Ok, the site looks nice, but I really hate, and I mean despise that you HAVE to turn on cookies to get into this site to post. Do you have to do cookies? I mean I like this site, but I really value my privacy (as much as THAT is possible). Can you turn off the manditory cookie policy please?

Unfortunately the new software requires cookies. However the cookies are not ever stored on the server or logged by the server in any way. They are only call by the software (from your browser) in places where you would normally have to type in your password, to turn the lighbulbs on and off, to access private forums and to provide the hello message.

We can't (and wouldn't) track you from site to site, etc., and no one outside of the software here will access or read your cookie (unless of course you choose to go look at them yourself!).

If future versions allow them to be turned off I will do so.

Hope this helps in some degree.

I think Murph's objection is that since he has to permit cookies from this site he is vulnerable to malignant cookies from other sites.

Murph; you should make it a habbit of tossing your cookies every now and then. That way you won't have to worry about them.

Not if he uses a good browser, or a privacy manager. For example, Mozilla lets you choose by site whether to permit or refuse cookies.

My standard practice is High security, Zone Alarm also set on the highest settings, cookies off. And I flush cookies and ad borgs reguarly since I hate someone sneaking things onto my browser. If I could get a non winmodem, and get either my Mandrake or the soon to be FreeBSD setup working right, I would use other browsers than IE.

I'm not paranoid, I just value my privacy.
