Adding to Ship Encounters

Mithras

SOC-14 1K
I'm gearing up for solo play, and as an adjunct to my new ship encounter tables I've added some reaction rolls. Hopefully they are also mini adventure seeds at times. They are by ship category:

If anyone has ideas I could add, please post!!!!!!!

Frontier (for scout/military ships roll on appropriate table)
2Fugitives from imperial law, they need a new ship…
3Debris and wreckage from the rolled ship
4Radio silence, they fear pirates
5Asks for help with a repair
6Asks for info on world you’ve just left
7-8Ignore you, but polite
9-10Crew are hostile and suspicious, warning you away
11-12Medical emergency, they have no doctor or supplies

Industrial
2Thinks you are a pirate, based on rumour
3Thinks you are from rival company, warns you away
4Comms are out, radio silence
5Medical emergency, their doctor is ill!
6,7Ignore you, but polite
8Asks for info on world you’ve just left
9Requires help with repair, please!
10Require assistance with violent crewman
11Refined ore in space from that ship. But no ship.
12Hijacked vessel, unusual trajectory/callsigns

Transport/Special
2Thinks you are a pirate, based on rumour
3Transport matches a ship that went missing last year
4Comms are out, radio silence
5Medical emergency, their doctor is ill!
6,7Ignore you, but polite
8Asks for info on world you’ve just left
9Requires help with repair, please!
10Require assistance with violent passenger/crewman
11Cargo in space from that ship. But no ship.
12Hijacked vessel, unusual trajectory/callsigns

Scouts
2Scout in distress; it has returned from a failed mission
3Warn you away from a gravitational disturbance
4On way to map a moon
5Mapping gravitation anomalies
6Launching a nav beacon
7Friendly hail, ask about world you have come from
8Ignore you, but are polite
9Ask for you sensor logs
10Mapping jump wakes, stay clear
11Need a civilian spare part
12Looking for a missing X-Boat

Military
2-3Warn you of an unidentified ship in this system
4Need some civilian spare parts from your ship
5Asking for info on world just left
6Ignore you, will not answer comms
7Ignore you, but are polite
8Asking for sensor logs
9Security Checks
10Boarding
11Warn you of piracy in this system
12One of your crew is wanted, see security checks

Errm, having rolled a few ... I think I need a dead space in the middle of the bell curve, or else every encounter is turning into a drama!

Mithras,
These are really good but I see what you mean about too many chances for an adventure with each encounter. I would double your chances that the encountered ships will "Ignore" a PC vessel and make it even higher for Military ships. Have you mined older versions of Traveller or other SF games for ideas? What about paraphrasing the MGT Event Tables from character generation, you may be able to set up a 11-66 chart if you comb through MGT compliant material from other publishers.

Thanks for sharing.

I did have a look at MgT, I'm using the nice tables there to help me build up patron, encounter and event tables for a CT campaign.

I got the idea for ship 'attitudes' from playing EVE. Every ship there was a person, likewise my encounter table for a subsector has named ships on it. I'm hoping for relationships/good or bad, to maybe be built up with these ships...

I've switched to 3D6 rolls, with the middle of the chart, ignore on most of them.

For anyone interested in the Ship Encounter Tables that go with them, find them here:

http://zozer.weebly.com/uploads/3/4/3/3/3433372/ship_encounter_tables.pdf

Note 1:They are designed for one subsector and have named ships.
Note 2: They include lots of nice designs I found on the web and have deckplans for, to create variety.
Note 3: The big military ships I intially had as Azhanti's and Kokirraks, but Ive switched them with my Book 2 military ships from this thread: http://www.travellerrpg.com/CotI/Discuss/showthread.php?t=25701

Thank you!

I am of course going to make my own designs for the various classes, but I am going to keep the parameters such as Modular Scout; 125 tons.

So, again thank you. These are sweet and I think I will be using them too.

Only just seen these. Rather than putting dead space in the tables, you could roll twice - the second roll only taking place if you get, say, 5- on the first roll.
