Adventure for Flyers

In an existential fight, differences matter a lot less.

In a controlled contained conflict with a volunteer force, the guys are going to able to pull their weight better than the women, at the sharp end.

Males have higher average upper body strength, slightly larger size, and slightly faster maximum and average speeds, very slightly better night vision

Women have significantly higher average pain tolerance, better color vision.

Performance in combat has been shown (by Soviet, Israeli, and Iranian all-women units) to be directly comparable to men overall, but with slight differences in tactical approaches.

Have you commanded a mixed military unit? Quite bluntly, any complaints about women in combat units are squished as being "politically incorrect". Ask the Israelis why they no longer have women in combat units. Also, what do you do with a pregnant fighter pilot?

The Israelis STILL have females in combat units. News footage from the last year has shown IDF women in combat actions. More now than ever. And not in so-called "Chen Battalions"/"Minerva Battalions" - now they are in integrated units.
various sites mention this. Too many to bother listing.

I've heard (personally, from an IDF officer in 2008 or so, while on Elmendorf) that the IDF tries to keep platoons single gender when possible for supply reasons.
