Advice for T5...

I'd like to offer a piece of advice for traveller 5.

I hope the people writing it will try to make it as compatible with other versions of traveller as possible.

I mean, I'm not getting t5 as i don't like d20, and the only version of traveller I like is GT, even if I'm not buying new releases for any future GT products, so I'd like to think that T5 might be written with an eye towards making itself easily ported over to other versions of traveller so that people who play other versions can use at least some of the material for it with minimal conversion work.

The one area most important is characters. It looks like the characters will wind up similar in overall scope to CT/MT characters.

But that means incompatibilities with TNE and T4.

Well, it wouldn't kill them to print a conversion ruleset for T5 to let you convert characters to other editions.

Actually converting MT characters to TNE was described in the rules book. And GT had conversion rules from older systems to GT.

So it would be a good idea for Mongoose to include at least MT->Mongoose

I'm using my own house-ruled variation of T4 Character Generation. Other than that we're using MT (though it varies by who's refereeing).

I don't think T5 is a D20 product. Or did I miss something? I really like D20, and if T5 is D20 I may just have to take a closer look at it.

CT, MT & T4 are all roughly compatible, and it looks like RTT will be too. T5 probably will be.

T5 will not be d20 based. That's Traveller d20 or T20.

T5 will be probably similar to T4 and/or MT, based on what little I have seen.

I got a few T4 prods, including the main book. I mostly use it as a source for other stuff, the system was bad and incomplete.
