Advice on which reprint volume to purchase?

You'll end up buying them all... eventually. ;)

IMHO, all of the reprint volumes are indispensable, and each one is worth its price in gold. The only one that is least important is the one called "Classic Games".... because uhhh, those are the independent GDW war games like "Dark Nebula" and "Invasion Earth", and they were meant to be played separately from Traveller, even tho those games still take place in the Traveller universe.

Just rounded out my reprint collection with the third JTAS compendium, myself...

Gotta get 'em all. Amazing reading, and they look great on my bookshelf

JTAS reprints, as even if you don't want to follow the OTU there is a 101 ideas how to make a better and fun Traveller universe. Plus, you can see the origins of all other products when they were only Embryos. And, if you need more than there is wealth of materials you can turn to.

I realize it is not quite what you are asking, but I recently picked up Gurps Traveller, and it has a great deal of backgound and history, including a library data section. Also, it is available online from SJG for $10+s&h.

So far I only have 3 reprints, the rules, the supplements, and the short adventures, but I expect toeventually get them all, as they are a great deal of funto read. As aresult of this thread, I believe I'll start on the JTAS reprints next.
