Sorta new in town, in that I registered here long ago (maybe even longer ago under another username) but never posted. Getting the urge to play Classic Traveller again, so I thought I'd drop in and say hey.

I've been playing Traveller since... I think '77... it was a long time ago. Trav was probably the third or fourth rpg that I learned, after D&D (from the white box), Empire of the Petal Throne, and Metamorphosis Alpha. So yeah, count me among the grognards.

I was just too late for M.A., but got in on 1st ed. Gamma World in 1983.

Yes, Jame and one or two others would often prod me into looking this way. Truth is, I'm mostly a GURPS nut. However, I'm not dogmatic about gaming.

OK, "How Green Was My Mutant" was an article in one of the early issues of Dragon Magazine... the subtitle was "The Appearance of Humanoids in Metamorphosis Alpha".

It was one of several Metamorphosis Alpha articles reprinted in the "Best of The Dragon" vol. 1 reprint anthology in 1985.

Cool article. I gave table for skin color (SWIRLED!) and hair color and type (feathered etc). It let you really make a mutated human "look" mutated without making them aliens.

I still have the Dragon magazine too...

Vaguely rings a bell. If memory serves, the first Dragon I owned had some SCA guys on the cover, one of which was carrying a shield painted OD green with a white star on it.

Those were fun times... old Dragon mags... reminds me of that one bit of fiction in an early Dragon with the golem, and The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.
