{ANNOUCEMENT} LBB PDFs!

How about the Magazine format. Collect them up and release then every few months as a magazine.
These "Best Of"'s. Would they litreally be the Best of what had been done or would they include everything? If they are the best of them those of us who may not pay for electronic versions (especially us who pay for our internet connections, only have 56K modems and live outside the US) will end up missing out on some stuff.

While I don't pay a hefty price for internet, I would also echo the need for a Traveller magazine to get T20 flying. One of the things that CT really did well was have alot of support from little companies (that grew and grew, eg FASA). It seems that we should try to emulate this model rather than cutting ourselves off from other gamers.

Magazines often provide the first foray into getting new players, if they see something that they can appropiate. Using the web, is best a form of communication that ought to cultivate the Traveller community.

You know, this goes along with the Non-US payment problem. We could probably arrange to take in standard mail payments from folks overseas or who don't want to do a credit card transaction over the net.

When I need to buy anything from America, I buy a check in American dollars from my bank. The recipient can simply cash it in his local bank because it isn't in a foreign currency. (Now, I purely hate doing this, because the bank charges me 60 kroner (about 8 dollars) to do so and I'm mean about that sort of thing. But I guess I'll have to do it if I want a copy of T20<LI>... ;).

<LI> Or I can wait and see if my FLGS takes it home.

Sign me up! I like the idea as presented (most importantly the pick and choose part) even though you sucked me in with the promise of the LBB's in PDF

(which if possible would no doubt sell quite well).
I'd also say try to do a short, free, PDF adventure monthly, like the old magazine "patron" or "amber zone" adventures. And you might try to do something like the monthly WotC Foldup Paper Models for miniatures. Small vehicles and buildings, and cargo containers for example.

The first one is actually written. We are running it past the playtesters (just posted it there) and deciding how exactly to lay it out.

It's tentatively titled Traveller's Aide #1: Personal Weapons of Charted Space, and was penned by Martin Dougherty.

A complete guide to personal armament in the Traveller universe!

Complete stats for tons of weaponry and tasks for both T20 and CT are included.

ART! It's got to have good, and I mean _good_, line art for most if not every weapon. Although I disliked T4's system intensely, the one supplement I absolutely adored was the Emperor's Arsenal, almost entirely due to the artwork. IF you can duplicate that, you've got me for sure.

How many can I put you down for then?

Bryan Gibson did much of the artwork for Emperor's Arsenal, some of which we have purchased the rights to BTW. He also is the fellow doing most of the line art you see posted at the Gallery.

How many are you going to come out with? Are you going to seperate them down into types (Sidearms, Military Rifles, Energy Weapons, Artillery, etc.)? By different weapons for the various races (Hiver/Ithlkur, Aslan, Zhodani, etc.), or by manufacturer (Imperial as opposed to Solomani or Julian)?

I know, that's one of the reasons I'm so hyped about the new stuff coming out.

The "weapons" series will also deal with Militayr Hardware (smallarms and larger kit like battle dress, artillery and such; aimed at merc units for the most part) and Defensive Systems (civilian body armor, medical gear, martial arts and such like)

Possibly a volume on non-human equivalents to these three at some point.

Are you also planning on doing a series of vehicle books? The 'military hardware' book would provide a good segue to introduce booklets on the vehicles PC groups are most likely to find and use (and have used against them), like the 56th Century version of the HummVee or the 2-1/2 ton truck. This would get my interest almost as much as the weapons books. Once I get the official construction system which is hopefully part of the rules, I would be most happy to help work on these. :D

<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>We will short be introducing a line of LBB (Little Black Books) in PDF format.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Cool.

<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>These will have stats for both T20 and Classic Traveller.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Hurrah! Again, however, I ask the question I asked in the T20 forum, which was completely ignored:

Will the Classic Traveller stats be playtested?

<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Under consideration is a plan to make these available by subscription, say 6 issues for $21.00. The payoff for the subscription is not a lower price, but a printed '6 Volume Best Of' edition at the end of each year.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

The printed "best-of" would not be an incentive for me to choose the subscription.

I just checked out the sample PDF at http://www.TravellerRPG.com/PDF/ta0001.html.

I thought it was pretty nicely done. There weren't any examples of the charts and tables, but it would be nice in this or future PDF products if there were certain pages designed specifically for printing out. That way, for example, I could have a catalog of all the weapons from this supplement at hand without having to grab my laptop.

The PDF format allows authors to enable printing of only certain pages, although I'm not sure how secure that is or even if you'd want to disallow printing of the rest of the document.
