While the standard sandcaster loads are capable of being employed in the counter-missile role, this special purpose anti-missile canister has significantly improved performance in that role. The canister is a two stage device with an identical form factor to the standard sandcaster canister. The first stage is a rocket motor providing 21Gs of acceleration for 12.5 seconds with an advanced IR guidance system. The second stage is comprised of twelve 4cm RAM flechette grenades that are launched simultaneously in an optimal pattern.
The anti-missile canisters may be used with any standard sandcaster launcher that has been modified with the addition of the anti-missile canister launcher guidance interface. Modified sandcasters may still be used to launch normal sandcaster canisters.

The effect of using these canisters is to allow +1 to normal sandcaster vs missile die rolls (assuming High Guard rules). These canisters have no effect on beam weapons of any kind.
Note: while it is theoretically possible to replace both the guidance system and the 4cm RAM flechette grenades with other types, such a field modification voids all warranties.
