Any non system goodies?

Maybe this is there little dig back at you for your "constructive criticism"!

Heh. Can't say that I've seriously entertained that possibility. After all, what could be more satisfying than making money off of one of your critics?

Seriously, I preordered and got mine last week, so I am a bit surprised you haven't gotten yours yet.

Well, it could well be that a simple mistake was made (i.e., my order slipped through the cracks). Mistakes happen in business, and I wouldn't get too excited if that turned out to be the explanation.

However, Mongoose's explanation to me was that they ran out of books before fulfilling the preorders.

The difference to me is significant. A mistake -- i.e., my order got misplaced -- is no big deal.

But a conscious decision to leave preorders unfulfilled while shipping to distributors is different. Real different IMHO.

Tbeard - in the front of the book, they acknowledge Playtesters, and I note there is a Ty Beard in the list. Just FYI.

No big conspiracy, I am afraid - those distributors who pre-ordered books got their supply, those who didn't, didn't! It was a case of first come, first served, and we knew we had sold out before the book went on official sale - you might remember comments that we had already reprinted the book.

That reprint arrived yesterday at our warehouse so, once everything is unpacked, you can expect normal service to resume!

Fair enough. Never thought there was any big conspiracy anyhow.

However, I would have appreciated being told that my order would not ship for awhile. I could have then bought the game from local hobby stores and had it much sooner. Of course, such things are always clearer in hindsight, so I don't care to make too much of it. I had flashbacks of the Imperium Games T4 preorder fiasco so I might've overreacted a bit.

In any case, I am relieved that Mongoose (apparently) took the legitimate criticisms to heart and ditched those mechanics, despite the fact that the design team (and a vocal fan contingent) seemed in love with them. That took stones and Mongoose is to be commended for it.

As one of those who liked the mechanic and disagreed with you...if Monsgoose themselves saw fit to remove the mechanic than it must mean that ultimately there were problems with it and thus you were correct.

I don't have my copy yet thanks to Alliance apparently not having it in stock..I have been told they do now so hopefully I will have it soon.

I'm one of the ones who like the T/E mechanic, but agree that as it was presented it was broken, but it was fixable.

The issue is that you need high rolls to succeed on difficult tasks, so the high dice results should be minimal success and maximal time...

or you reverse it, and roll low to succeed, and high dice for quality and low time.

It is doable, but cumbersome.
